You can buy a cheap hand held scanner like I did before I had it repaired and just turn the CEL off. Used to do it about once a month. Good luck

Mine is in the shop at this moment with thos exact issue. Thank God I have the top warranty. They are test driving it now and will get back to me. Not sure of total I will need to pay yet, but I'm sure I have to cover the diagnostic test for sure. 2 weeks ago my thermostat went bad and warranty covered all by $123.

So my 2017 SS just threw the P0700 and P0711 CEL combination. From some searching, this looks to be a somewhat common issue on the 8L90 automatic transmissions.

It is an issue with the wiring harness in the trans and there is an updated part to fix this. The harness has the temp sensor integrated into it.

I will have to drop the trans pan to swap out the harness but looks to be relatively easy.

Have a new trans filter, fluid, and the new harness on order.

It's always something.

Why is there a TSB for other 2016 GM vehicles about this issue but not the Camaro? My car has less than 24,000 miles and mine stopped working, going to cost me close to 550.00 to get it fixed. TSB 192291660 only for the L87, LT1 not listed.

Well it seems GM has changed the part numbers on the lower harness to fix the P0711 code so many times that nobody knows what harness can be used. Was looking for a 24046895 but it seems that part has now been put out of production and replaced with 24064375 and some places show it works with the Camaro and some places say it doesn’t, so how are people supposed to get their cars fixed if GM part sellers don’t even know what part GM is suggesting for a replacement part this week.

TSB is a technical service bulletin. It's not a recall.
Its for techs to reference with a common known issue.
It will usually have the complaint the customer will bring the car in for.
The cause that is making the car do whatever the customer is complaining about.
The correction to reslove the issue.
Then part numbers and labor ops for the service advisor to be able to build the work order.
Just because it's a TSB doesn't mean it's free.
If it's related to safety and the manufacturer is dragging their feet on correction, then it will become a manditory recall. And the manufacturer will be forced to fix it and it looks bad for them.
So usually before that happens the manufacturer will do a voluntary recall to correct the issue before the government has to make them.

Instead of going to Chevy with a part number just ask for a transmission temp sensor harness. Their system will have the most updated part number. And you would be surprised how competitive the prices are for a lot of things these days.

Service departments can always pull up every matching part based on your VIN. The part numbers we can research online, using public catalogs and ebay and whatnot are very often either not up to date or incorrect.

That said, these part number lottery games GM plays aren't helpful, but it's been the same with every manufacturer since I can remember. When I was much younger, I did some stints for Ford and they even maintained their own "secret", totally unintuitive part names (to prevent industry espionage, I guess...)
