It's my understanding, yes the JLT CAI intake breaths more air (5" tube). BUTTT!! it's not as sealed like the OEM or Rotofab CAI, Thus is breaths more HOT air. Your intake air temps are higher compared to the OEM intake. Thus less HP when it's hot outside and more prone to Heat Soak.

Does the Velossa still work with it?

Comparing to a zl1, the rotofab (non big gulp) is just two plates, and not a box while jlt is a complete box with an open top. It should pull cooler air than the rotofab, and has a bigger filter, etc. I really want one, but unable to use it with my hood scoop lowered atm. >.< I forsee no problems with using the velossa.

I am very curious about this as well. I will be looking for any info you care to share once you get it.

Going to try it with a amerihood vip style hood, got to measure and see if the ram air port matches with it pretty closely.

Do it if you are eventually going heads/cam BUT FBO ported 87tb and Lt2 is probably gonna run about the same for way less money based on my experience not quiet apples to apples runs in higher DA with JLT 5inch, 103tb, msd.

Fitment is good.
Rescaled the maf had to do a multiplier around 1.34 below 5500 hz and roughly 1.31 above on the stock maf curve. running pretty good. I’ll zero it in on a colder night. I emailed jlt about the hose clamp. I wasn’t able to get one on the tube near the throttle body.

I don't like the way that the intake tube routes, in creating such a tight radius into the throttle body. That type of aftermarket design just seems like it would induce additional turbulence into/at the throttle body as the air isn't going to want to make that turn. Being tapered is nice to help accelerate the air velocity, but the question is if that's necessary? The decrease in CSA I would think would accentuate my point on flow into the throttle body.
Why not mirror what GM did OEM in trying to setup the flow into the throttle body straighter/more gentle? I like the big airbox that seals to the hood and into the front duct by the headlight (through the core support). I would love to see this vs a RotoFab vs RotoFab with OE intake tube. |

True, I barely got one of the clamps onto 5" tube section from throttle body.

Did you put the clamp on the rubber then slipped it over the tube? It’s absurd the amount of stress on the bellow I just put and I still couldn’t get it on. Did you wet it? What a stupid problem
