Ignite Red vs C98/X98 vs One Ethanol R/S
Gents
Looking to have a discussion with those making 1150-1200 WHP or more. My local pump E is pretty crappy lately, coming in around E60 out of the pump which is lower octane than I’d like this year. Do you guys have a preference of the above stated brands or are they all suitable for 20+ PSI on 10:1 compression? Ignite Red looks killer at 114 octane but probably overkill… and it’s $100 for a 5 gallon jug out my way… ouch lol. But if Ignite is really that good I’ll just do that. ![]() Thanks in advance.

From memory C98 has mek in it, which is great for making power but not great sitting in injectors for extended period of time. Maybe something to keep in mind if the car sits. We used to use mr9 and mr12 in bikes and always had to flush the fuel system after use so it didn’t tear stuff up in the fuel system. I’ve personally only messed with X85 and other brands like it of basic e85 in a pail.

I would just order a drum of Sunoco E98 then blend it to your desired content %.
435.00 for a 54 gallon drum.

Are you wanting to mix that in with the pump 60% you're getting to get up to 85%, or are you looking to run it solely alone? I've personally only ran c85 from VP in my turbo street car (4.6 4v with a 85mm been 4.92 at 145 made 1286 at the wheel through a th400) and it didn't pick up at all from pump e85. I know the one ethanol stuff is good from friends that run it, I have no experience with ignite however.

No he wants to get higher E content. Currently his pump only produces E60. If his local pump was actually producing E78-80 he probably would be content.

There was a horror story on the local E85 enthusiast board about some local station had a tanker drop a whole load of 87 octane into their E tank. So guys were filling up expecting E85 and it tested out around E30, so the natives are up in arms lol (understandably).

One Ethanol R is some rowdy stuff. Use it a good amount in the LS platform where fueling isn't so limited. It took more timing than I ever imagined in a H/C C6 ZR1 never did detonate, it just stopped making power.

I would get a 55 Gallon drum of Sunoco E85R or Ignite 98(if you want to mix down to E85). I think the higher best overall value is still E85R if you compare to the math with the higher E% fuels and mix down.
I doubt you will see any power gains past E80.

I would recommend One Ethanol E85-S. Similar stoich to pump E85 so you can switch to pump if needed without needing to revise the tune. 54g drum is $459.

Hey Josh, did you ever end up going with the E85-S. I am looking to get closer to 85 on my car as well since I can at the most only get e70, out of the local pump here. Not bad I know, but was thinking about mixing my own E85-S if that would get me to the full ethanol content. I did read this on their website: "engines that typically use race fuels with an octane rating of 100 to 112." Does that mean I can still use this "S" variant on my build? Maybe Mike at Katech could help chime in. Thanks for any help guys!
