Unfortunately SCCA hasn't done any time trials events at MSR Houston this year or last year that I've seen but they did previously. Seems to be just MSR Cresson and Eagles Canyon (varying directions and track layouts) this year (both in the Dallas area) plus one event at Hallett in Oklahoma earlier this year.

I have 2 co-drivers that are NASA racers ... one is an instructor (Thunder & Lightning) the other runs Camaro/Mustang Challenge.
Body contact is a thing ... and can be expensive to fix. The CMC guy really underdrives his car .... because he doesn't like fixing his fenders, quarter panels and doors every event ... because there are always folks out there that going to overdrive their car and hit you .... He gets frustrated that he can't go 100% most of the time because the time spent fixing his car taxes his time with the kids/family .... and it frustrates him that there are people willing to "rub" into him with little regard at all. Or the guy that under preps his car a.d experiences brake fade and slams into your side at much faster speeds.... or the unyielding guy that thinks he was 2" ahead of your door so he cuts in on you ..... yeah, for him, fixing body panels regularly suck. He probably doesn't even try hard anymore for that reason alone. Not to mention updating harnesses, safety gear, helmet, fore suppression, tires, etc .... for 1 or 2 half-assed runs a year.
It's not all fun & glory ... just saying.
