Pic is not mine but same setup.
How to make a legit diffuser that performs as nice as it could look seems like something that hasn't been done yet for these cars.

Because there's no issue with this contrary to what some people believe. If it was a major issue, the aftermarket would have already had a product for this.

street performance street-max 12469 is a true X (i have purchased)

street max claims this is a true X, it says straight thru but i have it and it is a true X

i put two in series (muffler guy welded two together with tiny gap, fits just barely with the right upstream)

Street Max - SM12469 5"x8" Oval Body Muffler - 3" Dual In / 3" Dual Out
SM12469

https://street-performance.com/i-304...-dual-out.html

got from realtruck

i have a gen5 2013 ss just thought id share bc this is a true X, and i spent so much time trying to figure out my exhaust good sound but not deafening or drone (with a true X)

Hi Folks,

My current setup as of today is the following -
  • Stock Primary Cats
  • Secondary Cat Delete
  • 3 inch pipes straight from Primary Cat to Jones MF2469 Mid Muffler
  • MBRP Axle Back

I had the Magnaflow 12469 removed to install the Jones MF2469 muffler due to Magnaflow Mid Muffler being a little restrictive.

However, from 3,000-3,500 rpm there is a lot of resonance/frequency/drone with the Jones muffler (it was slightly less obvious with the Magnaflow).

There is no drone in any other rpm or in 6th gear while cruising on the highway.

Do you guys deal with the same?

I can easily switch out the aforementioned rpms by shifting down or up but it's still ear piercing loud.

P.s. I have a 6MT ZL1/1LE.

If your car is still on factory "headers" (hard to tell from your post) and OEM cats, your car is still significantly quieter than those of us with 2" headers and high flow (or no) cats...!!!

The Magnaflow muffler was not restrictive at your power level, FYI. I made 1059 WHP through mine with no evidence that it was more than 1-2% restrictive, even at that power level. I finally pulled it because we had modified the muffler body for more driveshaft clearance and it failed at that point where we modified it.

Not sure if some resonators would help resolve your drone issue? I have the AWE resonators along with my AWE Touring catback and have zero drone. It's loud though LOL

Yes, it's still on factory headers. I could feel the Magnaflow muffler having a little wall of pressure at 3-4rpm, it just didn't freely rev like the stock setup.
