I can tell it to anyone, but then again you could say a tire blowout is a safety issue too but they aren't recalling cars to replace them with solid rubber tires. These one-off scenarios are outliers and not the norm. It's not a safety issue as deemed by GM and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Even if the oil pump failed, the engine would not seize immediately, the driver would have had to ignore the low oil pressure indicator or would have been hot dogging the Hell out of it at high rpm when it happened. You likely don't know all the facts behind that story and people aren't very honest with these stories when they're pissed about it.

Totally separate issue. Not related to oil pumps and the issue can cause the engine to completely fail likely without warning unlike the oil pump issue being discussed here which often gives plenty of warning. People choose to ignore the warning are those that end up with blown engines.

The crankshaft issue is occuring because the engine is eating itself up on the inside from the original recommendation of using 0-20 oil on the 6.2's and they recommend using 0-40 as a solution. Apparently the solution has been working. There are two fixes for the issue. One involves getting the engine replaced and then running original oil recommendations and the other involves just switching to 0-40 if they deem your engine is still okay.
