Exhaust rattle

Hello everyone, I’m having some issues with my exhaust, it’s currently causing some rattle. Best way I can explain how it sounds like is like a thin sheet of metal hitting something. I’m going to be getting under the car tomorrow to see if I find the issue, I’m thinking it’s a heat shield maybe, not sure. Just wondering if anyone has experienced something alike? Thank you

Hi LT1andro, does your car have the NPP exhaust (that comes with quad tips)? If yes, the rattle is likely to be caused by the exhaust valves, which is a known issue and has various remedies.

You will find TSBs on the valve rattle (early epoxy fix, lube fix, valve controller leg cutoff fix) and several threads here in the forums, let us know if you can't locate them though.

Hey thanks for reaching out, but no i don’t have the npp exhaust. My current setup is 1 7/8 in long tube headers, leading to an x pipe to no muffler. You can only hear the rattle on idle, my guess is because of the cam the car shakes, something down there is loose and making that noise. it’s coming straight from under the cabin. I’ll be getting under a checking it out in a bit, hopefully nothing serious. Praying it’s just a screw loose or something to do with a heat shield. Thanks again

Were the bolts loose or something? Wonder if a dab of RTV in a few spots would have dampened it.
