supercharger coolant pump

Does the pump for the supercharger coolant always run or does something trigger it to turn on? And if something triggers it would it be bad to just have it run all the time?

Pretty sure it runs all the time the engine is running.

It is a "Key On" device and not controlled with a command in HPTuners. You will get a soft code if the Canbus determines the pump is not running or the relay has failed.

So another question can you run a trunk coolant tank with the factory pump? Or do you need to run a pump by the trunk coolant tank and bypass the factory one or do you run both?

You only need a trunk tank if you’re running 93 octane (and perhaps an Interchiller). You don’t need either if you’re running E85. E needs heat to vaporize properly and will make more power than a trunk tank..by a fair bit.

If you do decide to run a trunk tank, you either need to replace the weak factory pump with something like a CWA150, or add another factory pump to move the water from the back of the car to the front (so you’d run both pumps in the case).
