Camaro was Stolen… Stay safe out there!

Last night, I had my Camaro stolen outside of my apartment complex.

No sign of forced entry (broken glass/etc), never heard the alarm (it was parked close to my bedroom window).

OnStar wasn’t able to get a signal. Had a lapsed account with GuidePoint but they were trying to check for me as well (no word yet). Have a friend on the force trying to help but… yeah, I’ll well aware of how this plays out.

Took about a two-year wait to get the car because of COVID and spent a lot of time reading this forum getting excited about upgrading to a better Camaro (last one was a 2022 2SS coming off a 2013 2LT). Really enjoyed the car for the time I had it.

Found a slightly used one nearby, same year/trim with a lot of similarities. As much as I loved the car, I’m not sure if want the daily reminder. Then again, it’s impossible to find something in that price range with the amount of features the Camaro offers so will this about options while I wait for insurance to screw me over 😉

Good luck out there with your vehicles!

Sorry to hear. Did you have any anti theft things done to the car?

Seems like Philly is another hot spot for Camaro thefts.

Sounds like a relay attack... Was your key near your front door? Was it in a Faraday pouch/box?

Sorry that happened, I'd recommend to put an Igla in the next one.

Crazy not to at this point.

Sorry that happened...it really sucks. I had an '86 IROC years ago that was stolen twice. It's a horrible feeling.

I have a question...did you have the lastest "security" update done?

Even if he did, that won't stop a relay attack...

I put "The Club" on my Camaro every time it is parked, even when it's in the garage. If criminals want my camaro they are going to have to work for it !

Ya know, I agree with this. -I've talked to a lot of other people who agree as well. Back in the day, after awhile, thieves learned to carry the proper tools to defeat the club, and it kinda went away, -or at least out the mainstream. Today, with everything being so tech oriented, a simple physical device doesn't seem beneficial, but I'd imagine most thieves aren't prepared to defeat "The Club". ...and if you break the window, without the relay method, you now have to spend time defeating the club AFTER you've potentially alerted people with breaking glass, -even IF you have the tools. THEN you have to hack the car. I dunno, seems to make sense to me.

I'm using a metal ODBII port blocker and an aftermarket fuel pump fuse block that requires a remote to enable the fuse...otherwise it will not start. Very simple. Only inconvenience is that I have to click the button on the separate remote before I start the car each time.

Did you keep the obd2 port in the same place or move it somewhere else?

I did not relocate it. Hoping that the fact that my car is always garaged, and having the fuel pump fuse mod on top of the ODB II port is enough to keep my car from being stolen. It's enough to make me feel better.
