The Autozone Mobil 1 deal is back through 5/31, this time you can even get a cabin filter or an air filter for a couple more bucks! You still have to search part number 124798 to get the oil to pop up.

Bumping this old thread again...still available with the new ESP X4 formula if you click on "$35.99 Mobil 1 Bundle" (https://www.autozone.com/motor-oil-a...rt/1177215_0_0) that was recently DexosR certified: https://www.gmdexos.com/brands/dexosr/index.html

$72 + tax for 10 quarts of warranty approved oil and you might be able to return the 2 oil filters to get some money back but that isn't guaranteed.

There's always an expiration date listed for the deal but AutoZone has been perpetually renewing it for years as far as I can tell.

With the L87 recall and the "fix" being 0w-40, looks like GM finally caved and admitted most M1 0w40 including "European" variants meet the DexosR spec. This was recently updated looking at archived snapshots of the page.

https://www.gmdexos.com/brands/dexosr/index.html

Should be a significant cost savings over "supercar"....

Yes this is a great deal and ESPx4 is basically M1 best oil. The return value of the filter is around 4.50 so it comes in at around 6 bucks a quart.

In the referenced Dexos R list there are four 0W-40 listed. What is the difference between those four oils?

You don't think Mobil had to pay for the privilege a second time? GM doesn't strike me as "generous" company, that would allow anyone to get a DexosR designation without paying the toll, customers be damned.

Must be regional because I am not seeing it here in VA.

This is fantastic news. M1 0W-40 FS is regularly available at walmart for $25 or so in a 5QT jug, and is very stout, capable oil.

Yes, and I just saw this after I changed the oil in my SS.

I made a thread in the oil section hoping to catch more peoples attention once I discovered the new dexos R list.

Is there a point in using Mobil1 SuperCar vs the ESP X4? If they're both DexosR it shouldn't matter, right?

I came to the same conclusion.

From the Camaro High Performance Owner's Manual Supplement:

"The LT1 and LT4 engines are factory filled with 0W-40 dexosR oil. 0W-40 dexosR engine oil is approved for both track and street use with the LT1 and LT4 (ZL1 only, not ZL1 1LE) engines. 15W-50 full synthetic engine oil may also be used for track use and is required on the ZL1 1LE, but after track use must be changed back to 0W-40 dexosR for street use. See Capacities and Specifications 44."
