Oil change -first startup noise

So I changed the oil on my zl1 after it sat in the garage all winter.
Stupid me I did not run it before the oil drain.

I pre filled the oil filter and poured the new oil in.

At startup I heard a knock noise for a second or two. It freaked me out.

Cars runs fine and noise free.

I dont remember hearing this before.

Did this happen to anyone here?

Thanks in advance

If you pre-filled the oil filter (all the way) you should be fine... I know it takes 4 or 5 "fills" of the oil filter to actually be fully pre-filled (takes time for it to flow past the media), fill the filter, wait a bit and fill it again, keep filling it until it doesn't take any more oil...

I’m sure all will be okay, just needed to build pressure for a split second. You should hear my Duramax, since it’s first oil change, it’s horrible sounding on a first start.

Haha, I'm not sure that gave him the peace of mind you intended

Nope, I always drive the car first, then wait for the oil to cool to a temp that my hand and arm can handle in case I fumble the drain plug.

Probably just the chain tensioners filling back up with oil for a few seconds after the long winter's nap.

You can always hold down accelerator pedal (flood clear mode) and run the starter to build oil pressure after doing an oil change...

I drive my Mercedes SL450 every two weeks or so. The rattle at startup after it sits is normal... apparently. Goes away in 2 seconds. Just takes a bit till the oil pressure and flow come up.

Has anyone actually tried this? I heard about it and tried it in my GTI… for about 2 seconds until it skyrocketed to 3k rpm

Not my best moment.

I changed the oil and no glitter in oil. No noise at startup.

Next , the oil filter will come apart to see if any debris is visible.

Also I sent out the oil to be tested.

SO far so good
