I just spent about 30 minutes on the phone with my Chevy dealer about the TCM recall. He kept saying he could do absolutely nothing because the fix has not yet been finished. He said he can’t even do the software update notifying me that there are 10,000 miles left before potential lock up. I said there are people on this form that have indicated they have had the software update that predicts 10,000 miles before wheel lockup problem. I understood from this forum that there have been a few people that have had the software update performed notifying you about 10,000 miles before possible problems. Is that correct? There are some of you that have had that software enhancement performed, it is just that they don’t have the parts available yet to replace the defective parts? It appears that GM has really crapped in the bed on this one.

My dealer said the same thing. I didn't push it, although maybe I should.

I had the BCM update done three days ago.
The transmission recall "fix" in not yet available. We'll be contacted when it is according to the letter and the dealer.

I am still confused by the fact that I have read a few people on the forum here have had the transmission fix software update to be able to show if you are within 10,000 miles of a potential problem. Have these people just misunderstood what was done to their car

Thank you for this. This is exactly the type of proof I can show my dealer. GM has really done it to the bed by creating this confusion. Thanks again for your proof.

I am curious if TCM update would also flash your ECM back to stock tune...

Appreciate the response. I was asking a local tuner about retuning the car, he said he can update my TCM as well because he has GM software. But he would need to flash both TCM and ECM..

Well, the TCM and the ECM have several common and interdependent settings (the platform is torque model based), so even though they're physically separate modules, one can't trivially assume that an update would only flash one but not the other. Possible, but not guaranteed... more info from GM would be more than welcome.

Both local dealers in my area said they could not do the update yet as it wasn't available for my particular VIN. One dealer showed me on the computer screen. The recall was there but not available as of yet. I'm not sure when they will notify everyone who can't get it done yet.

Since they have to cover at least 50,000 Camaros comma they are probably waiting until they have at least 25% of the parts manufactured before they start sending out the letters to all of us. In the meantime, as evidenced by the receipt sent in above, they are probably fixing the squeaky wheels as they come along. The regional representative is supposed to call me about this according to my dealer. This squeaky wheel is not going away so easily.
