Tuning Without a Wideband

I'd like to hookup the flex fuel sensor and enable that in the ECM (plus turn off AFM/DOD).

Is there a tune file available for an otherwise stock LT1? Alternatively, is this something a remote Tuner could do?

I know I'll be wanting to work with a remote Tuner once I do have a WO2 installed, but is there any tuning that can be accomplished without the W02?

Yes you can set it up and be safe until you get a wideband in the car. I do this for some clients for varying reasons. They will pay me for a tune and we will geta base tune in the car and then finish the work when the client has the wideband in the car.

But, technically, you can install and hook up the Flex Fuel sensor on the car and leave the tune alone so it is "disabled". Then you can get a wideband in the car and do all of the tuning at once.

Either of the above scenarios work.

Needless to say, if you use the second scenario Megahurtz mentioned, don't pump E85 into the tank until you have a tune, because the sensor will impact nothing until "activated" and you'll have a, hm, very unhappy engine trying to run on ethanol without fueling adjustments.

You don't "need" a wideband for a flex fuel only tune with no other mods. I tuned my car without a wideband when it was light bolt-ons (Flex fuel, cat deletes, ported tb/im, rotofab) and ran it that way for a couple of years.

Thanks. I really don't want to go with LTHs at this point, but my understanding is that a wideband can't be fitted to the stock head pipe.

Really just wanting to run E85 and maybe a PTB this summer until I decide the path I want to go for more power (FI vs NA).

Also, it looks like my remote Tuner "retired". Any recommendations for a remote Tuner? I've got a MPVI2 with all the necessary credits.

Literally two remote tuners posted in this thread lol. Megahurtz or KingLT1 can dial in a simple combo like yours with their eyes closed.

Why can't it? I have a wide band bung welded in my factory header. Been that way for 6 years and the wideband sensor still works perfectly.

I'm installing the DSX FF kit this weekend. Checking the factory tune, other than the enable switches/updates, it looks like just the Stoich AFR table needs to be updated.

I did see a "base" TSloper FF tune posted here. It has the expected updates, but includes quite a bit of other changes I'm not familiar with.

Is anyone familiar with that tune? Is that an acceptable basic Flex Fuel tune for an otherwise stock engine?

Once I get a wideband installed along with my MSD & ported 95mm TB installed, I'll be contracting for a proper remote tune.

If you mean the base tune file in this thread https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=469951 then yes, I used the info on flex fuel changes in that file to adjust a 2017 SS tune for a DSX flex fuel sensor install back in 2016. With the sensor, tune changes, and e85, the car was indeed faster.

Yeah, I went through that tune and there's a whole lot more going on there than just a basic flex fuel enablement. I just the did Stoich AFR and FF tables and flipped the bits on for now.

I'll get one of the board tuners to tune me up once I get the MSD installed.
