Anyone using one of the add on devices to "enhance" their pedal response?
I know it is not much, but for those not doing full upgrades requiring a tune, is it worth it? Those with the "anti-theft" option are interesting as ANOTHER device for thieves to deal with.

My 2018 M6 2SS 1LE was a shit show leaving stops on hills and pretty much anywhere, the pedal tip in was unpredictable, drove like I was a fifteen year old leaning a manual. I swapped the TB for a Soler and a throttle controller and it transformed the driving experience, I did both at the same time for what it's worth.
I originally had the Vitesse TC and a few years later swapped to the Soler, pretty much a sideways move except the Soler has a nicer packaging, interface and an app. https://www.solerengineering.com/ |

I had a Vitesse in my 2014 Corvette Grand Sport and now in my current 2017 Grand Sport. Highly recommend a TC, although my 2022 ZL1 dioes not have one nor does it have the "lag" of the normally aspirated V8s in the two Corvettes.

I was getting sick of the lag in throttle response, taking off from stops. I went with a Soler bluetooth controller, and it's a lot better (it still lags sometimes, but I think it's more of a case of a quick stop, then applying the gas quickly). I use the Sport 5 setting most often - I found that higher Sport settings often induced a little tire spin, leaving stop signs.
It's fairly easy to install, they tell you which tools to use to remove the gas pedal assembly, after that it's a quick plug & play.I had an occasion to contact customer service shortly after purchase, and they were very responsive. And you've probably seen that they also have a presence here on this forum. I had forgotten about the anti-theft feature until it was brought up in that other thread recently about Pedal Commander. I am definitely going to start using it as another layer of protection! I did have one issue with it, but it was my own fault. Not too long after installing it, I decided to try changing to a different mode through the app while cruising down the interstate with the cruise control engaged. The app froze on me, and close out. Shortly after, I noticed that I had no throttle response. As I was approaching my exit, I pulled over onto the shoulder. I shut off the car and restarted it, and it reset. I probably could have reset it through the controller itself as well, but didn't think of it. Lesson learned, don't play with the app while driving (which is also not recommended in the instructions).

Thanks!!
Anyone have an issue in reverse being too responsive. This seems to be one of the selling points of the Pedal Commander over the others since it uses the OBDII port and reverts to factory when put in reverse. |

If you have a manual it's a non issue, you're usually modulating the clutch while backing, you'll never notice, that and the initial dead pedal is gone in reverse too. I have a Soler in my Sierra (auto) and it is a bit spicy but usable. The OBD plug in like the Pedal Commander and Banks tout this feature but when you need to go for inspections or service you may need to unplug them 100 - 200 miles prior to reset the drive cycle. The Soler and Vitesse go between the gas pedal connector and is a non issue.

I have not noticed this at all with my Soler unit. I haven't noticed any difference before/after install. I have heard of it, I guess. If I think of it tomorrow, I'll try putting the car in a more aggressive mode, and see how it feels.

I use the Soler controller with their upgraded throttle body. I think the DRAG setting feels amazing...but usually in SPORT5. I did use the WEATHER setting, too, when I had some snow and ice.

I put it in Sport 8 this morning (usually use Sport 5) and it did seem much more aggressive in reverse.

Isn't this something that you'd get used to after a while and then doesn't seem worthwhile? Does it reduce fuel economy because it basically givers more throttle all the time? (Flame suit on... I'm just asking for technical purposes.)

If you leave it in one setting yes you'll get used to it just like the OE. I discovered the drag configuration by accident when I guess I hit the controller and didn't quite notice doing that but then thought damn this car woke up. I looked and it was on DRAG.

Which is why, if I were to get one, I would get the Banks Pedal Monster. It also integrates into their iDash gauges.

I'm old, don't need to leave rubber at stop signs. But, what is this pedal thing and how does it work? What does it actually change?

I surmise that it is adjusting the throttle position voltage output. For example: Normal output is 0 - 5 volts With the pedal device it is now adding voltage to trick the computer into thinking the pedal is pushed further down. This would be my guess as to why these things creep when no actual throttle pushing is happening, that 0V is now 0.5V(or something). |
