Sure its been discussed countless times. Anyone upgrade amp with factory BOSE
Got to admit the factory BLOSE system sucks in the Camaro. I like loud music. Anything from Kane Brown to Kevin Gates. Depends on the mood. Car has the factory Bose in a 2017. I added a 12" JL corner box and a Fosgate 1000bd amp. Bass is there but I can turn the volume full and its really not loud to me. My Stock C7 and C8 are way louder. I am wondering if anyone simply added some sort of interface (I have a LC2 for subs) and a nice say 500 watt amp for the subs, skipped the Bose amp and can get louder. Yes I could replace speakers and go crazy but not interested. Just curious if a nice amp would make it louder.

It has been discussed, and I encourage you to do a search. It's not simple to just add an amp to the Bose system. You need an expensive digital interface (Axxes, NAVTV) to get a flat line-level signal to your aftermarket amps, and then you'll want to replace the speakers because the OE Bose drivers are unique with a low impedance and probably some unusual frequency response curves.

I will say that my 2016 and 2023 sounded vastly different. I was maxing out my 2016 all the time, but I don't get past half much in my 2023. And not because I am old, it is because the 23 is much louder. Maybe an inline 4 channel amp would have helped with that on my 2016? Or it might just add a bunch of distortion...

The factory tuning of the Bose 2SS system changed in 2019.

How? My guess is that one day Al Oppenheiser parked his Z28, drove someone's convertible, and said "Why is this stereo so quiet?", so they cranked up the gains.

I just did some searches on this and found nothing.
A certain member here would know for sure. Maybe a bit of "but these go to 11" going on here. Last edited by ctrlz; 04-12-2025 at 08:59 AM. |

2019 was the first year of the new communications protocol in all Camaros, going from MOST to ethernet. We know that the factory radio modules changed, and I assume that means the Bose amp had to change as well. Since all the DSP for the system is in the amp, too, Bose would have had a chance to redo its calibrations. Maybe the amp's internal hardware is actually different, too. I'm not sure. I assume the drivers all stayed the same, though.
I have no idea about measurement differences between the early and later 2SS systems. Keep in mind that "louder" could mean that it's legitimately pumping out more decibels. It might also mean it's giving you the same sound pressure level but other things are different that make you perceive it to be louder.
