Exclamation Magnaride suspension (MRC) is very stiff and can't adjust ride

The Magnaride on my 2017 Camaro (88k miles) is very stiff. It's almost like the MR fluid is always magnetically charged, and I have no suspension at all. Also, the ride will not adjust when I change the driving mode from Track/Sport or Tour. The settings change on the screen but the ride doesn't.

I was thinking I needed to change the struts but why would all 4 wheels have the same stiffness. Could it be that the Magnet Ride suspension module is bad. Should I replace the module 1st or is there any diagnostics I could perform to help determine the cause?

Thanks
Bob

Check your trunk under the carpet, the MRC controller is down there along with the Bose AMP and rear fuse box. If you’ve got water there, it’s gonna be a fun repair

No water but did have a rear end collision a few years ago. It may have sat outside during repairs.

Thanks!

Seized

Unlike conventional shocks, when magnarides fail, they warp and seize providing zero movement.

Years ago I managed a small fleet of full-size SUVs, several had magnaride. The failure rate of the magnarides was about double the conventional equivalent. We frequently saw replacements needed less than 50k miles with the same failure mode you're experiencing.

Even though the Camaro is far lighter than a Tahoe, at 88,000 miles I'd suspect your issue is the shocks themselves and not the control module.

If they all seized up at the same time, I would expect it to be an electrical or control module. Check the fuse.
