Road Course SS1LE Tire Wear F vs R

What is everyone experiencing, in regard to tire wear? Specifically, front tires versus rear tires.

I have a coupon with my local dealer that gives me the fourth tire for a dollar, but all four tires must be identical. My first thought is to get four rears, since they are more expensive. I already have two sets of wheels and tires.

What is everyone finding? I do Sunday cruises and road courses. I might start doing some auto cross, but that will be minimal.

I’m guessing the fronts wear faster than the rears, but I don’t have enough miles or tires to really know. I do have a track alignment.

Fronts wear faster than rears especially with track alignment and actual track use.

I believe i go through rears more than fronts and thats a spec street alignment, no burn outs, no track, but i drive it hard. Remember its toe that kills tires, not camber. Camber is tte only difference in street and track alignment.

I also find its not like you go through 2 rears for one set of fronts

When stock, and even with track alignment, my fronts corded on the outside shoulder first. I now run wheels and tires and rotate. It’s always the shoulders that go first. That said, I’m probably 75/25 track/road use.

With mostly track use, front tires wear quicker than rears. If you are going to do a good amount of track days and you are staying with the stock sizing, then I would buy extra fronts with that discount.

If you later on get into more tracking and go with a set of dedicated track wheels/tires, then you have the option to go with a square setup and can rotate them front-rear to even out the wear.
