Pads lost in transit. How do these look
Ordered new pads but it now looks like they won’t be arriving before my next track day on Saturday. I would have liked to swap them out but that’s looking unlikely. My old ones look like this. I put the thinner pads on the front right (that side wears slower since my home tracks have way more right turns). I plan on just inspecting each pad after each session to see how much is left. It will be in the 50s all day. Cloudy. Small chance of rain throughout the day. Amazon kinda screwed me on this one. I figured i would be fine to still go. Just have to be observant and smart. I know they wear quicker when thinner but it’s not going to be hot. I also have the blackwing deflectors

You should be good for a day. Inspect often as you plan to do. If they have any taper, install the pads so the thickest end is on the leading edge of the rotor sweep. (Hope that makes sense)
Lastly, for fronts, put the thickest pad set on the corner that works the hardest. Generally, for CCW tracks, put them on the right. For CW tracks, put them on the left. |

Going by your Avatar you are in NJ. Are you doing the Thunderbolt day with HOD tomorrow?
Normally those pads would be a no-go for me if you're in Advanced/Expert group. But since TB is not a brake heavy track and the weather will likely be $hit tomorrow I 'd say you're fine. There's an advance Auto parts store in Millville. You could stop in there and get some pads for the fronts. They won't cover the full rotor but they'll offer you more performance than what you'd get with these old pads. Have fun. |

The auto parts store is not a bad idea. I ordered another set that should be at my house tomorrow. Thinking maybe if they are there somewhat early i can have a friend bring them down. |

You might get lucky and someone at the track will have a set, I carry a spare set with me but won't be there. Maybe call a couple dealers in the area and see if they have a set of OEM on the shelf, those are decent track pads.

I recently witnessed a fellow who had just purchased a used ZL1 cook his brakes and total his car at Podium Club in AZ. Those pads you're running are a no-go as far as I'm concerned. There will be a lot of heat transfer to the fluid. You can push a few maintenance items in the track hobby but brakes are much too important. Sorry, I'd skip the day in the name of safety.

"I paid for the whole pad, imma use the whole pad."
In my experience in the ATS-V (cousin of the SS1LE) 4mm of pad is my go/no-go line for beginning a single day of DE - I've never used more than 2mm of pad in a DE day. Brake gauges are pretty cheap, I'd check pad thickness at lunch then every session thereafter...obviously if the circuit is wet there will be less speed and energy to dissipate so pads should be just fine without measuring.

With AutoX it would be fine. I thought I was needing to change pads when I saw what another guy with a cayman was running. I finally changed a month ago.
