Security update N242447610

For those that have “certain” 2020-2024 Camaros, this BCM update appears to be a security update per GM Authority. You check your vin to see if your car gets it. No details from gm for obvious reasons. For other input see thread on Facebook Camaro 6th generation site.

Mine is at the dealership getting it right now. Unfortunately, they still havent released the update for the transmission. I was hopeful I could get them both done this week.

Had all my recalls done, including the A10 update last weekend. I swear my tranny shifts better... but maybe I'm imagining it.

maybe off topic but I couldn't (easily) find a thread on the A10 update...

Any guesses as to why it's specific to 2020-2022 and not 2023-2024? Did they already have the better code in production? or a parts change in place? 2023 owners want to know!

I wonder why only "certain" vehicles and why only from 2020 to 2024, when the 2019 model year already had the updated infotainment architecture. Not happy about GM hanging us 2016-2018 owners out to dry either.

Doing mine Monday.supposed to fix the clone the key code through the obd port but allowing it for gm techs and locksmiths with the special gm handheld devices but “ not other non sanctioned and secure devices “ which I guess the ones on eBay and Amazon (?). Still keeping my layered security

Guessing the data rate on a BCM must be pretty slow, since the procedure takes like 2 hours. And yes, going to put a post-it note on the the steering wheel "Fake OBD has a lock on it, real OBD located XYZ"

Me either! It keeps my "de-fresh" 2021 looking like low-hanging fruit...

Silly question, does this affect a tune in any way?

No, they are updating the BCM which is completely separate from the ECM which is what contains your tune.
