I did a search, with Google because the other search box is useless on this site, and did not see anyone do this.
I want to run power, + & -, into the passenger side of the car and add a fuse block in the same area as the interior light control box(glove box area). Looking at the options, there is the positive cable grommet I could poke a hole in, not my ideal location/choice. Looking more, it appears that there is a body cap located on the body above the door harness grommet. It is NOT a grommet, just a plastic plug so I would replace that with an actual grommet. The path into this hole seems to be rather simple. There is no metal that has to be drilled, but a piece of fiberboard(no idea what to call it) that separates the engine bay from the inner fender door hinge area. It appears the door opening/closing does not come close to the wire, if run this way. Has anyone penetrated the firewall on the passenger side any other way? It does not appear there is an easy access to the firewall, from either side, to drill a new hole. I do not want to run to the driver side and then back over if at all possible. Thanks!!! |

Can you just use the terminals or fuse location in the trunk to get power from? That way you can just run the wires along side of the power cable inside of the car, I might be missing something but it’s just a thought.

Im not saying it is, I am just spitballing so to speak, but if you ran wires from the trunk you wouldn’t have to worry about pinch points and water intrusion which causes corrosion, I was just trying to come up with a safer/other option.

Okay, thanks. ![]() At this point, more work than doing it from the front. Pinch point is non existent, the hole is there from the factory and just needs the proper grommet, there are extra studs on the positive connection and it is a shorter run. |

Have you considered using the sound tube hole in the firewall? It's towards the middle of the engine bay on the driver side, see step 4 and figures 5 and 6 in this doc: https://www.phastekperformance.com/c...6STDK_Inst.pdf

Instead of all these taps or harnesses, going to use it for radar, dash cam, alternative security device power or .It just seems like an easy spot to have a power source. |

If you change your mind, here’s a route to the rear fuse box I use

Most people run a wire through the cap in the door pillar because it's the easiest way. Forum member overdriv ran wires through the firewall grommet shown in your last picture. See his How I hardwired my Dashcam thread.
