Or simply an LT5 in a 1LE ZL1?

I don't see a Z28 just getting the 70 HP add. And I don't think there is a lot left in the chassis department with a 1LE. So short of adding Carbon Ceramic brakes and cutting weight (neither of which led to sales of the Gen5 Z28) I'm not sure what to do here.

But adding the LT5 to the Camaro just added $20k to the sticker. If they go full bore and give a Z28 level chassis compared to a 1LE are you still camping out a $90,000 to $100,000 Camaro?

IF true, I just see this as a way to keep things going until GM gets a feel on how EV takes off and sets up for a 7th Gen Camaro EV.

I've always wanted to see the LT5 in the Camaro and will jump all over it if that happens. They certainly have to do a refresh of some sort before 2026.

I would think that before GM would put an LT5 in a Camaro they’d find a way to put an LT6 in it. LT6 is the 5.5L DOHC planned for the Z06. It would not be a break with precedence, since ZL1 already uses the C7 Z06 powerplant. Better business case sharing an engine with C8 than maintaining low volume of the LT5.

How about this one...

If the Corvette goes EV, the Camaro could carry the V-8 ICE banner, and like you say, can just soldier on. It seems the Vette might have a more receptive platform for EV and performance. I don't see a EV Camaro if the Vette is going to go that route eventually.

True, but there’s no indication that Corvette is going EV anytime soon. In fact, I’d say just the opposite. We’re a year and a half into the Corvette getting onto an all new, exclusive platform. How long will it take to pay for that, as well as the plant changes / expansion put in place to support it? Expect Corvette to be ICE for at least that long. Mid 2030s in my estimation.

Depends on the block. I had always been told putting an engine in sharing the block was farrrrrr easier. If I change the block, I change the engine mounts, the packaging etc., which is all time and money. The other wild card even with an LT5 is cooling. Just because the radiator in a Corvette can handle it doesn't mean the Camaro can. Again more time and money for development.

Plus we know a DOHC 60 degree V6 fits in Alpha, don't know how a DOHC 90 degree V8 will package in a Camaro. My guess is no or the CT5 V Blackwing would have got the DOHC TT Blackwing V8.....or maybe it will if the rumors are wrong.

Love to see either, just doubt we will.

GT500CF - $93K
Challenger Super Stock - $87K

I would. And suddenly, the Camaro has numbers to compete with the GT500 and the Redeye. It already has the handling chops to beat both.

The ZLE handles the LT4 power better than the C7 chassis, I have little doubt it would handle the LT5 nicely.

GM could do it with little investment. The Challenger chassis is 12 years old with no end in sight. It's a marketing problem.

Despite the name of that website, they primarily deal in fabricated rumors and innuendo.

Ack. Super old thread.
