ZL1 Tuner advice
I need a tuner for my ZL1. It’s my daily driver, but I don’t drive much. Reliability is important. I need it to behave when I’m just on a date with my wife, but if I wanna have fun with a Redeye or Z06 I want them to study my tail lights.
I have it down to two people. If you want the names I’ll say the names, but for now I’d like to just leave it anonymous. Tuner 1 has a big name built. Would be a remote tune. Has a ton of experience and is widely regarded as one of the best. Tuner 2 is local. He’d do it in person, and I’ve seen his cars beat comparably built Tuner 1 cars. He’s younger, doesn’t have a huge name. Cost is similar. I am a very analytical person. I have a tendency to overthink things, but it has saved my ass more than once. Can anyone give me some advice? |

Great question. I understand your concern, and validate you, as there are alot of people out there tuning these cars, and should not be. With that said.... can I ask for the list of mods you plan to have installed on the car prior to tuning?

6 months down the road, headers and maybe a pulley kit. Also seriously looking into a Hx upgrade, and coolant expansion tank for the supercharger to improve reliability. |

With those mods remote tuning can dial in that setup pretty easy. If you were doing heads/cam/bigger blower etc...I would want the car in person. That being said I would go with tuner 1. A conservative reliable tune likely isn't going to be as quick as a track tune. that is likely what you are seeing between the 2. I can make a A10 car 2-3 tenths quicker alone with aggressive trans tuning, but you are not going to want to drive it on kill everyday. I would port the blower before adding pulleys. X port will net +3psi without touching pulleys.

For your mods I wouldn't let remote tuning be the deciding factor. As King said its an easy setup to tune for if you're experienced.

It's easy to tune a car on the road or on the dyno using a remote tuner located anywhere in the United States. KingLT1 tuned my previous car/motor and Megahurtz has tuned my current car. I've also heard good things about Derek Dunbar, Joe Schneberger, Elite Tuning, Brian Huntsbarger, Jannetty Racing, Justin White, Ryne Cunningham, et al.
