I went from chamois (because I couldn’t find another good one) to old bath towels to micro fiber. Maybe I have the wrong ones but I can’t find one that dries without streaks. Any suggestions?

Here is what you want my man. Light dusting of Speed Shine while the car is still damp (I blow dry it first) and pull this bad boy across the paint. Comes out great and you can easily do the whole car with one towel.

I'm a fan of Adam's products. If I find any renegade water spots I hit 'em with my spray bottle filled with distilled water and use one of the smaller detail towels.

I use mostly Rag Company or Adams microfiber, whatever is on sale. I have a large towel and a couple small towels. The large one can be replaced with a blower if you like. Remove a majority of the water using the large cloth or blower. I like a large cloth and go over the car really quickly, then switch to smaller cloths. For the small cloths I also use a quick detailer to reduce friction and add a touch of shine. These are also used to dry the door and trunk frames. Then I get the blower out for the wheels, front and rear bumpers.

A microfiber with 1100 gsm or more will work well. A lot of professionals use Rag Co towels, or any of the towels mentioned above are great too. If your car is not coated, or if you have swirl marks, those won't go away with a different drying towel. The chamois, and especially the bath towel, could have introduced a lot of swirl marks.

Blow dry followed by:

PPF covered paint, under the tonneau, door sills & under trunk lid, etc.: a waffle weave towel or two.

non-PPF covered paint: 500g/sqm edgeless microfiber plush towel using magic elixir* detail spray for lubrication and hydrophobic finish.

* 20 parts distilled water + 4 parts Carpro Reload + 1 part Carpro Ech2O.

I'm an Absorber guy but do use Meguiar's waffle towels, too. I typically only blow dry (leaf blower) my wheels.

I used to use Adams ultra plush drying towel but switched to the 1320 street shine "the last" drying towel.

I use "the gauntlet" from The Rag Company.

The all-purpose 12x12 or 16x16 microfibers that are sold everywhere are not ideal for drying a car. You want a drying-specific microfiber.

A "drying aid" will also help provide a streak-free dry. I second Josh's suggestion of Griot's Garage Speed shine, however any quick detailer will work. Just spray one or two mists onto the panel before you go over it with your towel. You can also have a secondary microfiber towel in your hand to follow up after the first towel pass.

I use the Absorber shammy. As for the towels, are you washing them after each use or do you let them hang on a line to dry?
