Well guys, CNRED took a hit last weekend. My father took her out and got a bit over confident, got sideways and hit a curb at about 60 mph. Side airbags deployed, the right side rear suspension is completely trashed, rear wheel is shot, seatbelts locked, and there was parts scattered at the scene from the underbody. Passenger door doesn't line up any more.
The yard that has the car is claiming they think it is not a total loss, insurance believes it is. If anyone has any advice on dealing with Progressive it is completely appreciated. |

Well my first ZL1 took substantial damage like that as well. Took it to a local reputable body shop and they wouldn't use anything BUT OEM GM parts so they ended up totaling it. Had a check in my hand about 3 weeks later from GEICO. I can only honestly comment on the damage part not the insurance part. Good luck either way.

That's rough. Almost happened to me once after hammering the gas while not completely through a turn on cold tires (with ptm in race mode so no nannies oops). Luckily, luckily, the road was so wide and traffic so light I missed any other cars or curbs. Tough lesson to learn but glad your pop is ok and you didn't hit anything/one else.

Summer tires in snow...? Obviously things won't turn out well.

I'm thinking its totaled..If the doors and fenders dont line up anymore its likely the unibody is twisted.

That may be true, the justification from my insurance company was that the suspension components alone front and rear after my side impact were crazy expensive. Not even sure they got to the subframe or unibody before they totaled mine.

Sorry to see this happen and glad everyone is ok, I can imagine. If it's totaled, maybe see about buying it from the insurance company and then possibly start working on a full out drag car for the track?

Appreciate all the info fellas, this was is a tough one car had a new motor in it and was going strong, was planning on putting another 100k on her.
As for the tires, put 85,000 miles on it though 4 winters with no issue. Its about knowing what you got and the limits. Practicality is another story.... Loved that car.... |

I'm glad everyone is okay, but it's quite sad to see another one of these rare beauties bite the dust.
