Should I port my intake manifold?

I have a lt2 intake manifold atm non ported but I am running ported frankesnteined heads and the stock throttle body. Do I need to port the IM? And do I need to go up to a 95mm throttle body to take advantage of the ported heads? I also only have a cold air induction CAI so not sure if that's all a bottle neck.

I'm not an expert, but my personal opinion is that you're only getting as much flow as the most restrictive component of your system. To me, TB and intake go hand in hand. I did a 95mm and intake at the same time. That would be my next step if I was in your situation.

Depends on your power goals and budget. If you're going for max effort, you want as much air in and out of the engine as you can, and the cam & heads to pump it. In terms of capacity, the LT2 is the middle of the road, even ported. A 95mm TB would match up well with a port matched LT2. Everything works in concert, and with NA it's critical the entire build accounts for each part or you end up chasing bottle necks.

Yep hit up the boys at Soler. Mike sent me a LT5 ported tb for my Maggie Camaro, and then Ported the LT2 tb off my C8 and sent it out to Socal Porting which port matched my LT2 intake to the TB Soler did. I couldnt be happier. Hell I have a ported TB in my C7 as well from Mike. I am an ambassador. LOL

I also have the LT2 IM with 95mm TB. The LT2s biggest restriction is in the snout, and can be opened up some to help take advantage of the 95mm TB, but real world difference is negligible. I paid for the SMG stage 3 porting but unless you are going for a max effort build, or chasing every last horsepower, its not really worth the money.

If you can port it yourself, or have it done from a reputable shop for cheap, then go for it. Otherwise, don't sweat it.

^Agree...leave at is. Next stage would be an MSD with 103 if you don't want to mess with the hood for a hi-ram.

I am not removing my Maggie for a MSD. LOL I actually had a MSD for the C7 but once I went to solid motor mounts I found out it wouldnt clear. I made about 900HP with a ported LT1 intake so I am going to say for big HP cars porting does help.
