Corvette ZR1 lap records PDR footage

I know this isn’t Camaro related but I’m posting it here because people who visit this part of the forum are definitely going to appreciate it. The speeds in the straights and turns are absolutely insane on this car! Enjoy everyone.

These times are set by the engineers, it pro drivers so I think it has more in it.

The acceleration looks unreal on this car. I guess this is what happens when you add twin turbos to a DOHC car. It just pulls and pulls.

The new ZR1 is an amazing car. Even more impressive than the sheer power to top out at 180+ at VIR for example, look at how composed the car and the driver are at the speeds through the esses and corners. Unreal

Yes, the speed through the esses are eye catching.

GM should probably include a Hybrid S with ZR1 purchase...

The acceleration is the most impressive thing to me about this car. The speeds at VIR are absolutely insane, it smokes the Lucid Air by a mile which I didn't think was possible.

What’s a stock SS1LE do, at VIR?

I haven't run VIR myself yet, will be there next weekend.

Christian1LE here on the forum ran 2:03 on the Full Course and 2:52 on the Grand Course with OEM SC3 tires.

Those are the best times I've seen at VIR in a stock SS1LE.

He has a YouTube channel with these runs and many more at other tracks. Super helpful to watch them and learn.

Yeah I think the 1LE in stock form can for sure do a 2:02 or maybe even a 2:01 with a pro driver in ideal conditions. My 2:03 lap was when I wasn't 100% comfortable in the car yet so there are some areas to improve (uphill esses not flat, turn 10 slow, TC was still on).

The VIR Grand lap can also be better if it was done in cold conditions, I did the 2:52 in the middle of summer with messed up alignment. I think a 2:50 on OEM tires is possible with colder temps.

Those are really good times. A buddy of mine, who is very fast, was happy when he broke under 2 minutes in a ZLE. So, within 3 seconds in the SS is impressive, IMO.

I haven't run my SS 1LE at VIR yet, but this thread makes me want to schedule it soon. I've been on it in a big turbo Fiesta ST, and I ran as part of a team in a 24 hour Champ race once in an underpowered Hyundai. Obviously, neither of those was going to even sniff 2 mins.

Chin is at VIR next weekend (Mar 1-2). I'll be there. There are still spaces available. Come join if you can.
