Talking Zl1 mods and shops near Columbus Ohio

Hi I recently was fortunate enough to get a 2017 Zl1 with relatively low miles around 13k it’s a a10. I was just wondering about possible mod list or if anyone has shop recommendations for around the Columbus area I am
Comfortable driving a few hours also.i was pretty much looking to do bolt on and a different fuel like flex. Any recommendations on that or other experiences for reliability just need as much info as I can get thanks ! Also would you rather wait on mods or do it all at once later I would still like the car reliable as it is just a fun weekend car.

I'm in Columbus as well. JG Speed on Facebook would be my number 1 pick. He's in the same building as performance research. Kontras Performance is also another option.

I would assume the car still has the factory oil pump so that's something else you could look at replacing. Maybe do a little cam and ported heads while you're in there lol

Congrats on the ZL1 - Welcome to the family!
Lots of options for performance mods... before the suggestions roll in I think it's best to understand these 3 questions.

1. Do you have a target budget?
2. Do you have a target power goal?
3. What is the intended use of the car? (street, strip, track, or all three)

Hey thanks for the recommendations ! I would say not a specific budget or power just kinda wanna wake the car up a little and have it he a little different and faster main thing is I want it to still drive amazing and be reliable so that’s why I was wondering on other people experiences. Really would just be street 90% of the time I may track it occasionally but not like regularly

Yeah, Jared at JG speed assembled my short block for my car. Another good friend of mine had his ZL1 build done there as well.

From what you've said so far I'd say do a few simple bolt on mods, maybe intake, headers and an upper pulley. That would be plenty of power to have fun but not too much power for the street.

Do you have easy access to E85?

Yea it’s available at most gas stations here I believe I just never ran it I heard good and bad about it on certain cars but never heard bad about it on lt4 what are your thoughts ? A lot of people say it really helps the engine

Ethanol has a much higher octane rating (113) than premium gas (93), it burns cooler, which helps with combustion and engine oil temperatures (highly welcome on the LT4 as the ECM will not be forced to pull timing due to heat), and it gives you 35-40 extra hp with a flex fuel tune. You will need to add flex fuel sensor hardware, which then allows you to pump or mix any percentage of E from 0% to 85%, the ECM will automatically adjust on the fly.

The downside is the car will need 25% more fuel for the same amount of air, leading to that much worse fuel economy, and it's a less stable fuel, ie you shouldn't leave it in the tank for very long---either burn it or use some sort of fuel stabilizer whenever you don't drive the car for several weeks.

In reality you probably won't be running straight E85 but some mix of E85 and 93, probably E55-E60, because the stock LT4 fuel system may not be able to supply that much more fuel to the engine (the pros will correct me if I'm wrong here), so the fuel economy loss will be a bit less drastic.

It really depends what your budget is, Kooks is who I'd recommend. If you are more on the budget side speed engineering is always an option. I've installed a variety of brands and I see no difference generally. Most people go roto fab for intake as well. Also as you said we do have E85 available basically everywhere, my car has been on e85 for 20 thousand miles at this point, no issues thus far.
