Installing Full Metal Bushings on a '17 manual transmission
While not the full, "How-To" video I wanted to do, I think that what I was able to film really explains just how easy it is to install the solid aluminum shifter bushings from Full-Metal Bushings is to do.
I was so impressed by the results ... from floppy, limp and vague shifting action, to a tight, precise and much better shifting experience. Truth be told, this job should ONLY have taken about 20 minutes MAXIMUM (including the time it takes to jack up the car, etc), but due to hidden corrosion welding the factory bushing inserts to their shaft, it took my cousin and I two hours. Hope this helps anyone installing these bushings. Full Metal Bushing Installation

Here's a close-up of the shifter linkage removed from the car. The yellow/white arrows show the remnants of the factory bushings, where only the bushing inner-sleeves remain.
The yellow/white star shows the drift pin that has to be removed to separated the shifter linkage from the transmission, so it can be taken to the workbench, where you can much more easily remove the bushing inserts and install the Full Metal Bushings. For the drift pin, you WILL NEED an 'off-center' punch, since it is located directly over the transmission housing and only an inch or two from the housing. A straight punch will not work (I'm going to take a picture of the home made 'punch' my cousin and I used and post it in a short while). Once we had this punch, the job took less than 30 minutes, from removal of the linkage from the transmission, to the bench where the sleeves were removed, the pin(s) cleaned and polished and the new bushings installed on the linkage and the completed upgrade reinstalled on the car.

Thank you, OP and subscribed. Your initial post mentioned the bushing company's name, but I've forgotten. Also, I've got the Hurst short throw in mine but I'm wondering if these would work fit there as well. Any idea?
Thanks again.

I don't see why they wouldn't fit a Hurst short-throw ... if you reused the factory bushings, then these will drop right in. PS - A shop wanted over $350 (estimated) just for labor, because the ONLY repair guide available is to replace the ENTIRE shifter ($2,000 ++)

+ 1 for Full Metal Bushing. The owner of FMB is a great guy. There is a thread on this as well as videos on the link DonM posted.
It took me close to 2 hours as well. I didn't have a lift and was back (car was on jackstands). This will work with the short shifter. https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=607655 |

Here is the finished product, installed.
Yes, we went a bit overboard with the "pig snot-like grease." If for some odd reason, this ever needs to be taken apart again, it will be super simple, but a bit messy.
