Modified LT4 Coolant Pump Relay

Hey everyone,

I started offering this modified relay after seeing the need for it after I did this how-to video on how to bleed the supercharger coolant system of air.

Once I saw the need for the modified relay to make things easier, I started building them, and placed them on my Fourthwall shop. I figured I would post this here for anyone that wants to pick these up and get some power back by bleeding the supercharger cooling system:

Modified LT4 Coolant Pump Relay

Here is the how-to video:

If you can go with a fender tank like the DSX, no more bleeding !!!

Very true, but not everyone wants to go that route. This is a simple solution for a quick purge and bleed, and you can keep the pump running while on track, too.

Solid thirty pounds of extra weight that is absolutely unnecessary IMO. My car drops IAT during a run with zero storage FYI.

I realize all of our cars/builds are different for different applications etc. With mine running 18psi to 20psi of boost at WOT the temps are not so crazy. But, while cruising or in traffic, obviously not in boost. My IAT climbs pretty high on hot summer days. Summer days for a long stretch of time here in Ohio get 98°+. Before the fender tank, my IAT climbed pretty high on those days, 160° to 182°. I added the fender tank and same type days, it stays in the 132° to 148° range. With and without the fender tank, when I ran the car hard the IAT always came down to a reasonable temp. I went with the fender tank due to the high boost I run and the fact that I bought a FI Interchiller Stage 2 kit and it requires one.

Fender tank has nothing to do with heat shedding which is what the OEM setup lacks capacity in. The OEM setup is also prone to being air bound. Both can be fixed without adding 30 pounds of weight. Take a look at Gabe’s website (Griffin Motorsports) for upgraded heat exchangers and much better hose layouts that fix those issues. Interchiller temps are too cold to properly vaporize ethanol FYI. So if you’re stuck on pump gas than I understand the Interchiller choice but E is superior to an Interchiller.

Also you should look at improving your engine’s efficiency. 20 pounds of boost for 784 WHP is a lot and is driving the heat generated by your blower way up.

My F.I. Interchiller Stage 1 kit said it required a tank. But it didn't say that when I bought it. I was pissed about it but installed it without the tank anyways. Temps are 80F degree after 10 hours of driving here in HOT Thailand. It's awesome. I will get a tank when I go to the states again next month and it should really get interesting.

Need one of these to run the fuel pump to drain the tank when swapping fuel.

So how do you keep from triggering the CEL and reduced power with this relay?

Hey sorry, I just saw this since I no longer get notifications from the forums.

We have tested this at 38 minutes of runtime without triggering any CEL or causing issues. This was done at idle, at cruising, and during hard pulls.

We didn't feel it was necessary to test for longer, since most HPDE events are 20-30 minute long sessions. I don't see too many ZL1 or ZL1 1LE cars being used for W2W racing outside of the GT4.R cars, to which I am sure they have a separate cooling solution.
