FBO warranty
Hey Everybody!
I’ve got a ‘23 SS, still stock with just random cosmetic mods but no power adders yet. I’ve got an LT2 Manifold, 95mm tb, CAI and Headers ready go in this spring. Just wondering does anybody else feel or has felt this is not worth sacrificing the warranty over? Especially given the crap AFM hardware that could give out anytime -even with AFM disabled? Just thought I’d ask here and see some feedback. Thanks |

Great question, and each persons answer will be unique to their situation. For me, I would have never purchased a ZL1 if it had to stay stock. Too boring for me. I tried to purchase without one, but the dealer laughed at me. Pulled the motor at 2K miles to install the heads / cam / oil pump, etc. My perspective is... so long you have the coin to fix or flip, then do what makes you happy. Life is too short to dive a stock car.

Contrary to what it may seem from reading online, these cars are just as reliable as anything else on the road. It's not like they're blowing up left and right....for every guy that posts about a failed lifter or blown up engine, there's hundreds/thousands without any issues

Personally, with that new of a car I would at least not touch it until the 3/36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty ran out. I had a few things go wrong and it was nice to know it was covered and I got a rental car while it was being repaired. But this is just my opinion

If you have a good relationship with your dealer they will still cover stuff. Berger Chevrolet used to offer head and cam packages on new cars and warranty them. Haven't seen anyone doing that in a while though.

I always like to drive the car close to 10k miles before voiding the warranty. Just to give it a little time to see if anything happens.

I went FBO all at once and just said goodbye to the warranty. As long as you don't have any current issues and actually maintain your car well, you should be fine. These cars are fairly reliable when taken care of. That being said, if you can't afford a problem that could occur and it would cause you major issue or financial ruin, please don't risk it.

Doing mods doesn't mean you have no warranty? I had oil pan leak and they replaced the pan, etc no problem and I'm tue/fbo

having the money/knowledge to fix it. i think most ppl use that as a gauge. pretty simple.
i have a whole garage full of gen v 6.2 gm warranty motors. none of them have bottom end damage that i can see. if that makes you feel any better.
