More aero ...wings and things...

Well winter is here in NE and laying on the couch thinking about hitting the track this spring.

Wanna work on improving the areo goodies on my ride.

Selling APR and and going to Nine Lives Wang wing.

Anyone interested in buy APR DM.

Will attach some pics

Anyone here have experience with Nine Lives Wang wings?

Improvements or any feedback?

My pick, particularly at (what I assume is) your budget, would be AJ Hartman or Zebulon. Zebulon would take more work to fit it to the Camaro trunk but Hartman has a kit out of the box and is really great to correspond with if issues arise. Obviously lots of people are very happy with 9lives so take this with a grain of salt. A good friend who is a very good driver bought one because it was the cheapest option and was ultimately not impressed. He tested downforce (via shock travel), getting dramatically less than advertised (maybe 60%). For a heavier car like the camaro I think it makes sense to be more aggressive with the aero, then dial it out if you went overboard and the balance is off. Hartman and Zebulon have more aggressive options that are adjustable. 9 lives is adjustable as well but IMO even their dual element wing leaves something to be desired. I don't want to flame 9lives much because this is just an anecdote, and I'm sure there are others who would wholeheartedly recommend them.

9lives standard Camaro wing is ok, but they also can make some big ass CF wings. (see Terry Fair's mustang) I would do AJ's splitter and big wing kit for a balanced DF package if I had the budget.

A buddy has 9LR wing on his ZLE with RM front splitter....he is a fan, I think normally ran 3-4 degrees AOA.

A friend has said their 9LR (on a different car) didn't *seem* to make the downforce they were expecting, but it didn't negatively impact lap times. Johnny knows his aero shizzle, knows wheel and makes effective and affordable stuff.

Hartman's stuff is fantastic and more aesthetically pleasing, obviously more expensive.

I will say, totally unrelated, that Verus's swan mount for the G82 is the most visually pleasing wing mount I've ever seen (mounts through the trunk mount) and I wish they'd pursue that for other popular applications.

My 9LR Wing

I really liked the 9LR wing at first but after awhile its appearance looks kinda ricer. I also was told if I sent pics of it installed I would get a 200 dollar credit which I didn’t. Told me to send in pics of the car which I did then he asked for pics of shop that did work I did my own work, so I sent him these pics and never heard back from him. So buyer beware on that part he is not very responsive to calls or email. I have since bought a Victor Racing active aero carbon fiber wing, now I didn’t pay that price I got a smoking deal from a forum member.

I definitely appreciate your time and posting.

Yeah let's see how my laps pan out this spring.
If no improvement I will definitely report back.
I have plenty of data to go by.
Hey if it's positive improvement it won't stay around long.

So… I have the NLR wing on order. My first dive into aero.

I do know they also make/testing a splitter setup. You have to call them directly for details.

Lastly, in my research, in terms of downforce, I think Hartman makes the most, followed by APR, then NLR. Pricing is in line high to low.

Now, who’s to say how accurate the testing is. I tend to trust Hartman the most but that’s beyond my budget. And I distrust APR a tad only because of their front splitter; not wing. Splitter strength, shape, and design seems questionable.

Of course, that’s a single chord. You’ll probably run double and even wider so might in fact be more DF

Zebulon will make you a splitter as aggressive as you want, if you feel like going a custom route. I went with them and they're great but if I did it over again I'd just go with Hartman's camaro set up, it seems like it would be so much easier. But I'd ask Hartman to close off the hole for the transmission cooler.

Both companies make a carbon fiber splitter with a radiused lower leading edge and wing/blade profile (trailing edge of the splitter is thinner), which should significantly improve front DF over a flat profile. I think Hartman mentioned something like 40% increase on CFD over a flat profile splitter.

9 lives has one that in my opinion looks pretty awful. RM motorwerks makes one that looks good, but pretty sure it's a flat profile.
