I do not have any personal experience with this issue, but GM was forced to use the larger 13.6 disc on any V8 Camaro (1LE& Zl1's excluded) from 2020 up. They also started to use low copper content brake pads that required the larger discs to make up for their lost "bite" and match the braking performance on earlier cars.
Therefore, I imagine if you replace those OE pads with performance pads you could achieve higher brake performance than earlier 4 piston Brembo's. Perhaps you could suffice with upgraded pads while saving up for 6 piston set up. Last edited by Ventmaster; 01-04-2025 at 04:48 PM. |

I have a 22 LT1 with the california compliant z51 calipers. Your right the lack of airflow makes these brakes totally lacking on track days so I did use the same ducting you purchased. Takes a little thought to put it together and bolts right up but you have to trim the forward pieces on the scribed lines to fit the base model front end, then they fit great. I was able to go from using a DTC-60 to the HP+ pads which are much more street friendly.
This pic is running the DTC-60 pads with no ducting just to give an idea as to how hot the front rotors get.

Thank you everyone for the insight! Yes the lack of cooling may be the limiting factor for the brakes on these cars, however, this is the car I will be keeping. I’ll have to get creative and find a way to get the most cooling possible! Thank you for all the charts/part numbers etc.!!

Turbojeep, do you happen to have the part number for the DTC-60 pads?

Thank you elite LT1. I have my car on the lift now and I am also working on brake cooling duct work. I modified my inner fenders to bring air in. Also, I modified the lower grill openings to allow more air flow. Now I’m looking at the brake dust shield and what to do with that.
