Question 2020 2SS Rotor Replacements

I know, I know, another post about parts that SHOULD BE easy to find but nooooo. Fyi, I've been pretty solid on my own car maintenance for a long time since my dad was a mechanic but when he passed away years ago, I just started going to the dealership because I'm too tired to argue with a bunch of backyard aficionados while having a muscle car and a baby face. Normally, my advisor and mechanic are the same exact guys so I don't have any issues but THIS TIME smdh - I've have 5 different people tell me 5 different things and I am not in the mood to ship these rotors back to RockAuto AGAIN.

The main question is: do I need vented rear rotors?

Don't give me any brand preferences, please, I'm using GM Genuine for a reason. I went through the daily driver section for that same reason.

I ordered the front rotors - 1771264 and rear - 771209. Parts says I have to have rear - 85589611 and the only difference I see is that they're vented. Is is safe/fine to have them put on what I ordered or will they not fit at all (which I doubt is possible)? If so, please give me your best comebacks to pushy "yes but this is better" ahh salesmen.

Thanks 💙

While you may have ordered GM genuine you did not order oem. Oem is vented and yes on a car as heavy as ours you should continue to use vented rotors. Part number is 85589611 for a 16-24 Camaro SS without the BCD option code upgrade (only on 22+ I believe).

Thank you! Should I just return all the rotors and get the vented for the front too??

The part number you listed for the front IS the oem vented rotor.

Ah, good. The number they gave me was different - 13528522. I got a newer model to avoid these issues and all it did was open up more options to confuse me tbh. At least I can tell them the front rotors I ordered are correct, thank you so much for that.

Yeah, that's the standard vented SS front rotor for the 4-piston Brembo setup, check out the pictures here: https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oem-pa...rotor-13528522

to the forums, by the way, you have chosen very well with this beautiful 2SS of yours

So here’s the confusing part. You’re both correct meaning they gave you the correct part number for the oem front rotor HOWEVER the part number you got is also the correct part number. They gave you the GM genuine part number where as you got the AC Delco equivalent for the front.

Don’t worry as the AC Delco part number is an EXACT replica of the GM Genuine part number they gave you. Same exact rotor made in the same exact place. Some go in a GM Genuine box and some go in a AC Delco box.

Yes! Exactly! The correct ones came in the ACDelco box and all the rest came in the GM Genuine boxes which was why I was so confused they were telling me those were wrong but I haven't opened them thankfully. Normally I would have no issues just getting the money and letting them do the whole job but this time they were more convincing on just ordering the parts myself. I've chewed them out now for being so difficult lol. Great guys, but no sense of time constraints. Now we're 11 inches deep in snow and I'm terrified that my brakes are going to fail.
