2022 ZL1 auto bolt on Dyno results, what do you think?
What's up y'all,
I have a 2022 Camaro ZL1 10 speed with 2" speed engineering long tubes, off road x pipe and factory NPP exhaust, flex fuel running E49 blend and standard rotofab cold air intake and aem wideband for tuning. I got it Dynod and it put down the following numbers, temp was 46 degrees outside, MAT temp was 138 on the data log, no knock and timing at 26.5 up top. |

What was your baseline dyno run (before the mods)?

If you had a baseline you could get more feedback on your cars mods/progressions. Dynos can all read different, so it's difficult to gauge anything with no starting point. Looks like the dyno was on the 3rd, so probably no drag strip runs yet I'm guessing? That would be a better indicator of performance IMO. How's the car run for ya? Big change?

I've seen stock ZL1 ranges from 550 to 590whp depending on the dyno. Honestly 550 would be on a lower side. I would expect somewhere around 570-580 to be the average for a Dynojet. The results above certainly look like one of the more pessimistic dyno's though. Without a baseline or knowing what gear though we're all just speculating.

That makes no sense. If you base line 550whp and then get 580whp after a set of mods, you gained 30whp, if you baseline 570whp and then get 600who after the mods, you still gained 30whp. The dyno number is just a tuning tool so that you can measure before and after which is why it doesn't make sense to compare dyno numbers between different vehicles on different dynos. Even the weather can have some effect on the dyno numbers. The OPs car could dyno again on a different dyno and end up 20whp more than what he's showing on this dyno, it doesn't mean the car made more power, just that the dyno measured it differently based on its calibration.

Yes, but you said you would rather one read low so that it shows a greater gain after the mods. That wouldn't be true, you you're going to gain the same, just the baseline number is different.

Side note, The OP's torque is low imo...the tuner likely yanked a ton of timing out of it midrange and put all the timing in up top. That setup should make the same if not more torque than horsepower.
