Roto-Fab Air Intake & CA Smog Check

My 2017 ZL1 will require it's first California Smog Check in two months. Will I need to remove my Roto-Fab air intake and re-install the OEM parts,in order to pass this test?

Unfortunately it will not pass emissions in CA. Just put the stock one back on and go pass. What you do after that is up to you. ;-). Hopefully you don't have a tune as that might be flagged as well. With most ODB-II scanners, you can do a quick emissions systems check to make sure all emissions parameters are ready to go.

NOTICE: If you disconnect the battery when changing back to the OEM air intake (per RotoFab install instructions) all of the emissions systems/monitors will reset and will need to be engaged through either a very specific driving routine (which requires a cold start) or just regular driving over the course of a few days. If you try and do the smog right after the battery disconnect, you will fail as the various systems will show "not ready."

Haha. I'll fart in a bag for a while to offset this.

Thank you for this very useful information. I didn't plan on disconnecting the battery, so sounds like I should be okay, correct?

BTW, my battery is eight years old. Trunk mounted batteries last two to three time longer than engine mounted batteries. My dodge Charger battery lasted 12 years in the trunk.

No, I do not have a tune, thankfully based on this.
