NASCAR viewership is less than half of its peak from nearly 20 years ago. Here is Daytona viewership the last 50 years and it's not looking good. https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/day...rship-history/ I'm sure the money is still there, as someone bought a team charter for $40,000,000 so it's certainly far from dead. It's just not growing and has no real path to get back to the Daryl, Dale, Jimmie and Jeff days. The car GM will race next year is no longer in production.

I don't think Nascar Cup car racing specifically helps the individual model beyond the brand. If GM accounted the Nascar spend against the Camaro that's a shame.

The best seats I ever got to a sporting event was nascar because the tickets were cheap enough for me to “splurge” for closer seats.

When I wanted to buy my first Corvette in 1969, Dad told me that the 63 I was looking at for $1850 would be impractical and lousy in the snow. I took his advice and passed on it. Today that same car can bring between 60 and 130K. |

As someone who used to watch NASCAR, I don't know anyone who still watches. Their format changes ruined the series.
Been watching F1 at the same time as NASCAR in the past, just not as closely as I have for the last 20 years. Everyone I know watches F1 now, Netflix effect most recently.

Most cars are bad investments, and if you invested in traditional markets you will likely beat the best of them, including your example. The historic rate of return of the S&P 500 since 1929 averages to 9.09%. If you invested that $1850 in 1963 it could likely be worth around $147k today and if you re-invested the dividends it has the potential to be worth over $800k. |

Please, you brought up buying a car as an "investment", not me. The only way it would fetch anywhere close to the kind of money you mentioned is if it spent its life as a garage queen. You know, not being enjoyed...

I have loved my gen6 as my daily for the last 4 years and 74 k miles. It's comfortable, looks and drives great. The mustangs I've driven are not good driving cars and I'm sure a charger is not. A Miata would drive good but would be impractical to me.

No I didn't. Anyone who reads my original post can plainly see that I was not talking investment.

I agree with most here that GM’s significant investment in corvette make a 7th gen ICE Camaro much less likely regardless of which direction they go on EV’s. Their goal is to steer ICE coupe buyers in that direction.
That said, i would prefer the Z/ Eray ‘widebody’ styling with the LT4 vs. the high revving 5.5… that would close the deal for me from a performance and reliability perspective. |
