Well, it is basically a race car. And it will be a very rare sight to ever see one on the road. I've never seen the recent GT live and in person, and this one might be even more rare.

And to pic nits, it was done, or a lot of it was, by Multimatic Motorsports, a Canadian company, maybe not as all American as it seems?? But hey, Canada is a great country and you'd be surprised how many of them are here in Florida. And it is still a "Mustang" kind of. Just curious as to why the people that complain about the Mach E NOT being a Mustang, but this is.

All that being said, sub 7 is sub 7. Not quite to the Porsche levels but still impressive. Would be interesting to see if they do a video like Chevy did for the speed run on the ZR1.

Any chance GM reinvests in GEN7 ICE Camaro?
Yes

At some point in the future there will be a GEN7 ICE Camaro...

Based on many things... recent history, profit margin, and technology just to name a few factors.

Companies are in business to make make money/profit right? Not everyone has the budget for a Corvette. More people today can budget for a new Mustang than a new Corvette though right? Remind me what kicked off the initial pony car wars in the 60's?

Within another decade or so, its conceivable that GM rolls out a 7GEN ICE Camaro that could possibly take styling cues from the 3rd/4th gens Camaros. Nostalgia is very lucrative. Read that again and let it sink in. Nostalgia is very lucrative.

We have seen this play out before right? It would follow the same pattern as to how we ended up with 5th and 6th gen Camaros.

Just my .02...

There is a documentary and the entire run in cockpit view

Those that had were pretty much in the “it could be better, but it’s okay” camp. I was in the “Ford is ruining a perfectly good car with the Getrag” camp.
I test drove a '15 GT with the getrag transmission. Car had 40k miles. Maybe it's just me, but the shifting feel, i.e., rowing through the gears, was among the best I've ever experienced. The shifter height, throw, and amount of effort required was superb. It was not notchy and engaged each gear effortlessly. It had a similar clicky/snickety feel as a civic type r shifter (ctr shifter is the best I've experienced).

I sat in a new 2024 GT (with performance pack) at a dealer showroom earlier this year and the shifter felt the same as the '15 I test drove (excellent).

For comparison, the Camaro TR6060 shifting experience is decent at best imho. That said, I do understand that the TR6060 can handle more tq than the gt's gearbox.

What platform and at what plant? When GM returned the Camaro in 2010, it was because Holden of Australia was alive and had a platform. When the C6 was given birth in 2016, Lansing had the Alpha 1 Cadillac platform. It was there for the taking.
An awful lot of water has passed over the dam since that time.

2002 was last model year of the 4th gen Camaro. Were any of those 5th gen camaro platform or plant decisions made in 2003? How much water flowed over that dam between 2003 and 2009?

Consider the previous reintroduction of the Camaro and note the timeline:

Quote:
History of the 5th Generation Camaro
Chevy's fourth-generation Camaro ceased production in 2002, prompting a clamor from loyal fans that eventually led to the development of its successor beginning in 2005. The announcement of the 5th generation came in 2006 , accompanied by the debut of an award-winning concept car at that year's Detroit Auto Show. The Camaro gained even more notoriety in 2007 as Bumblebee in the first Transformers movie. However, production issues delayed the 5th gen Camaro's arrival to the showroom floor until April 2009, as a 2010 model.
The 5th Generation Chevy Camaro: Everything You Need to Know

There was consumer demand for a new Camaro(drawing on nostalgia from some concept images at the time), a platform to use which you mentioned, and still it took several years, but it happened.

One of the best selling mods in Mustang world is a shift kit. Maybe the one you drove had one?

I appreciate your optimism and you should be applauded for holding out hope. Between 2003 and 2010, there wasn't a federal resolve to put us all in EV. What's more, the mindset of the leadership back then was quite different from today. Forums such as the GM Authority continuously report on the manufacturer's initiatives ; including powering vehicles like full size trucks and two+ ton SUVs with small displacement, turbo charged engines.
And there's always the requirement for a sound case by product development- a product that'll yield big profits down the road. It's unlikely anyone will put their neck out for an ICE Camaro. And a switch by young buyers to off road capable vehicles has diminished demand for muscle/sports cars. Their choice is to have a weekend vehicle that can tow, carry a lot, etc.
I do believe (without reservation) that a Gen 7 Camaro will appear before the end of this decade. Sadly (for ICE aficionados), it'll more than likely rest on an existing EV platform. Just my .02.
