Toohighpsi 2650 boost controller

Hey guys, I just bought the THP boost controller. Was wondering if anyone has installed this before and can help provide some pictures. I am looking at the very little instructions they have and is a bit confused on how to route all the hose and wires.

Thank you

I have not installed one yet, but it looks to me like you have only a few wiring connections and a couple hose connections. I'd start with calling THPSI and ask for GRANT or MIKE. Mike's less available, but Grant is great, and has always been helpful with me.

What I know is there's a loose WHITE wire in the REFLEX harness that you'll use for the AUX 1 connection.

The boost port connection, I believe, can be tapped off one of the rubber-capped ports at the front of the blower case. I have a "Gen 1" (3-piece) case, and there is one right next to the stock Maggie by-pass valve. I think that's what you would tap-in for that connection.

I think others will have comment on the SMOOTHBOOST connections. Maybe Joshinator can comment there.

Yeah at first glance it looks like the THPSI boost controller is different than Smoothboost but similar end result. On that 2650 kit I’m assuming you replace the Maggie vacuum bypass with the THPSI one but since the Smoothboost doesn’t use any vacuum connections at all, you’ll have to get THPSI instructions on how to route the vacuum hoses.

The Smoothboost uses your throttle position and the boost controller knob control the bypass position. I don’t think the THPSI one uses throttle position but rather the Reflex control, so the wiring is different too but looks simple from first glance at the THPSI website. I agree that a quick conversation with THPSI should get you on the right track.

Thanks both for the response. Have anyone taken off the magunuson 2650 or other bypass valve? I got the hose disconnected and bolts out but the metal hook that connects to the blower is what I am stuck on. It seems like it only go in and out one way, but the position of the bypass valve is not allowing me to get it into position to pull right out. Any trick? Hopefully you guys know the part I'm talking about lol

Update, I got it removed and the new bypass installed. Now to do the wiring because the diagram is different than what I received. I assume they changed it make it easier.

What does the boost controller do, and why would anyone want it?

Let’s you change how much boost you’re delivering without changing pulleys… So mild boost on the street and then full boost at the track, boost by gear, boost dump when lean, no more reliance on engine vacuum for boost control, so many reasons to do it.

If you had to ask this question, then you aren't making enough power yet to need it.

Quick question, I know not my thread, but the OP got me thinking, does the car need to be tuned for all settings of the boost controller for it to be utilized? I'd imagine there would be several for each boost choice no?

I think all of it is done through the REFLEX. I don't remember if I saw ATLAS coming out with support.

I am currently in the process of getting it setup and tune. Will update you once its all said and done. I think having boost control on a PD blower can be game changer if you are fighting traction on the hit (roll racing). I have used the Reflex since toohighpsi released it for port injection, and it seems they continue to add new functions to it, such as boost control, and boost scramble button lol.. Based on what THPSI advertised, boost can be control by MPH, Gear, and even E content. So I am very excited to see what it can do.
