New Toyo R vs R888r

Just looking for some inputs if anyone has tried both or either tire on a similar setup. I know the new Toyo R is supposed to be a better “RR” and it was suggested by a friend to run on the car. I had been planning on R888r
The car is a M6 ZL1 1LE and should be around 900whp, it’s just a fun weekend car doesn’t see the track just some drives with friends now and then maybe to a car show or car meet (30-45 min on highway) with some fun highway pulls

The r888r worked great as a street tire for me but the front zle tire size is unobtainable.

Yeah a buddy runs them on his 1200whp C7 and said he loves them that he won’t run another tire… so was curious

If you're deaf, your engine pushes 100dB into the cabin or you just want to race, the R888R is a great tire.

However, if that's not the case, get ready for the good old monster truck whine above 40-45 mph, and don't try to drive on these in the rain, the tread depth is only 6.3/32nds brand new and the compound wears like crazy.

Mine is 1100 plus horsepower. I've tried the R888R which is an okay street tire in the warm and dry, but awful and cold or wet. I currently drive the RR on brief cruises on warm dry days, but I'm sure it's just as awful in wet and cool conditions. It would be suicidal to buy either for a high hp daily driver street tire for all conditions

Yeah it’s just a fun weekend car not a daily by any means

I have been running the RR for two years on my ZL1. I am at 830 to the wheel, I love them but I only drive in nice weather.

i use r888r on apex wheels for track courses and they're awesome.

i use nitto n555r2 on 2piece wheels the street for daily cruising - much more quiet and better with water

r888r are the better tires at holding the car straight, much more noisy however, and wouldnt want to get stuck in the rain with them on

sorry cant weigh in a lot on your question but the r888r is a very very good tire just noisy and not great in any bad weather. for your purpose you explained maybe look at the n555r2 as well for the rear, i use supercar 3 on the front still

I would not use the R or RR as street tires... ...those are 100% slicks/track tires. The R888Rs or the Goodyear 3R are great tires for street or track.
