LT2 or Msd with baby cam

Those with smaller cam only car or in the know. I already have LT2 would it be really any gain and worth the money to switch to 103 and MSD with BTR 220 cam only?

LT2 best bang for your buck, MSD good all around. I'd go msd.

MSD shines the most up top with a 103 tb. If you not going to live in the upper bands a lot your better off porting the LT2 with a 95mm and enjoying it.

I always laugh a little when someone describes a .660 lift cam as a "baby" cam

IMO I've never felt the $/hp was ever worth it for MSD/TB combo for a NA combo that wasn't going balls to the wall. In addition to the cost, few are pleased with the under the hood aesthetics of the MSD as well. The 220 may be the entry level cam in the BTR lineup, but it can certainly huff enough to make gains on a MSD if you're looking for peak power. But there are better combos if your goal is NA max effort.

Yeah, was just adding cam to pick up mph for highway pulls and the 5 trips I make to 1/4 drags a year. As expensive as it will be, I didn't want to do converter or switch to msd/103 because at that $$ added I should just boost.

Only other thing I'm considering since right there is headwork.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. I think you can pick up a MSD & 103 TB for around $2k from Tick. Getting into a FI setup is going to be 4x that and then some. Whole other can of worms lol.

Head porting is worth it, IMO. And regardless what you do with the car, the more you pile on the parts in the future the ported heads will help it shine.

It's all about the combination. MSD/103 combo would shine more with a BTR 230 cam where you are shifting around 7200rpm.

LT2/95 combo will work btter with a BTR 220 shifting around 6600rpm.

MSD is really only beneficial over the LT2 past 6k RPM. Even then its just a few horsepower. If you already have the LT2 / 95mm TB, I don't see a point in upgrading unless you just need every last bit of top end power.
