What's your guess on power?
Hey everyone, I know nobody likes these posts but hell this place could use a lively discussion haha. Car is currently in the shop to get a new fuel system PI with an Atlas DSX fuel controller and everything that goes along with it. Shop says I "should" be able to run full E if all things go well, or close too it. They are also putting on a new lower pulley. I made 660 to the wheels with my current modifications in my signature, what's the guesstimate on what it'll make after the new modifications.

I've been waiting for the Atlas to become available - nice to hear you got one. I presume you're also going to go E85, which will nicely boost your gains. I presume you have a higher capacity LPFP being installed too because without it, no more gains - which one did you go with? With plenty of fuel now, there are big gains possible (changing pulleys, headers, heads, etc.). What size TB you have now? Will you have to do anything with your hood to fit the height of the Maggie and PI plates (did you swap out the 2650 top to DSX's?). I'll have plenty more questions as your build progresses. Make sure you post the "what's worked" and what problems get encountered that need navigating.

Same parts on my build sheet as I'm planning (DSX LPFP, LTx PI plates, Atlas, maybe the 2650 from them with DSX billet valve covers). I still tossing around the idea of the 3.0L Whipple or the 2650 Maggie, it seems the Maggie is more popular in the higher HP build scene. So, I don't know which would be better for my daily driver/weekend warrior style (I do want great cooling and the Whipple has larger bricks FWIW). Also, just want to build it then drive it without having to do constant maintenance (been there, done that).
What I do have is a set of LS3 fuel injectors laying around that I can use with the Atlas. I think that is what their default settings are in the tune. I don't know if they'll be high enough flow for my 850 target though, guess we'll see...

Mike (THPSI) made 880WHP at about 19-psi on the hub at E80 or so (I think that was a 22% lower and something like an 85-90mm upper). Different car, and an M7, but same blower with a bigger inlet/intake, but stock everything else. I think he posted how much timing he was running, which will factor into power, too, but that's posted in this Section I think. I think you could guestimate some numbers from this comparison I imagine.
My car produces about 18-19-psi in boost weather with the mods' below and an 85mm upper. My boost will be higher because of all that, so if you add LTs, you'd probably drop a couple psi as a result. However - my intake-side is a little bigger (that might increase boost a little above yours if you don't go a little bigger than where you are), but might not yield that much of a difference. I, initially, ported the Maggie 87mm snout to fit the LT5 TB (95mm), so when I changed over to the 103/103, I didn't see a huge difference (there was one, but not much), which isn't surprising with a stock cam and exhaust. No dyno numbers though. Congrats' on pulling the trigger!!! That should make killer power!!! You picked some great stuff! It's interesting to see how all of this pans-out. There's some interesting data out there comparing the older compensation method with the latest method. What I think is nice, is that this new method can bring a lot more people into bigger power easier than before. I think you had to really have someone that knew what they were doing to get the most out of a combination, but hardware like this can lift a lot of us to where we want to be a lot easier. Good stuff.

....I spoke with the installing shop yesterday, and Dave at DSX is currently working with HPTuners to get everything squared away with my car, so i'm unsure what that means but i'm excited. I'm going to check what size pulley we're going with in a few minutes.

You must be one of the FIRST customers to use Atlas! That must be pretty cool!!! It's a new product, and it seems like he's dedicated to polishing it, but sounds like it's already functioning great, from the information he's released. I don't know more than what is posted, but I know there are patches HPT is doing for Dave, and that you'll (the shop, that is) HAVE to go through DSX, exclusively, for them. I don't know if all of that is sorted out, but I'm sure your shop/tuner does. It sounds very promising. I'm very interested to see what works out for you. Their fuel bucket is a work of art, too. If you want to run more boost (the 90mm that I believe you started with) than you are already, you're probably going to have to running E' consistently. I mean, you can retard timing for gas and keep the alcohol table aggressive, but more boost will probably mean running as much E' as possible. That's going to tax the fuel system more (and your shop has already set you up with a dual-pump bucket), but with the information that's being released, it feels like there might be a, generally, new ideology for how DI and PI can work together, and some of the older theories of how the two systems can work together are changing. There were norms' that seem to be changing now, at least they seem to be out in the mainstream more than they were, as far as I can tell (that's not saying much, because there are certainly many more people more experienced/smarter than me). I'm excited for you ![]()

Thanks radz, I'll keep everyone up to date on how everything progresses, they have my car and the shop said it may take some time for them to dial in the tune correctly with Dave since this is one of the first they've done, also it takes some time for HP to get everything back to them. I'm on work travel to California (ugh) for the next 2 weeks and they said they'd keep me up to date on what the progress is.
