I think there's always been a myth around the fact that the dealer cannot perform the same quality of work that the manufacturer does given all the tools/personnel they have available at the factory. For me personally, since I grew up in India and people are very superstitious back home (for the good or bad, depends on each individual), but if an engine blows out fairly quick...that kinda is indicative of the fact that it is a poor manufacturing design/lack of quality control on that particular product, and will make you think, what other parts can fail down the road if the engine (which is in essence like the heart of a vehicle) was poorly designed/put together.

I am honestly stunned to read this. Only thing I can thing of is GM forgot to keep a hot wheels Camaro for their personal collection.

Sure, anybody could, and yes, you will be waiting for a while, actually I would say eternity if that's what you want for your car. When "one" person does it, it does come under insanity, but when you have multiple folks putting the same car at $70kish (look at screenshots I have provided, and there were like 10 of those too, not just one or two people. The screenshots were end of 2023 so its practically a car that was almost 6 years old commanding $20k over MSRP), it does change the market for that particular product. Case in point, GM paying me MSRP for it today. Even if you don't put it in the category of a "collector" car, I would say out of most Camaro editions sold, the hotwheels has definitely retained its value the best.

The 3 screen shots you posted were vehicles with 1) 269 miles, 2) 5,697 miles and 3) 1,970 miles. Unmolested time capsules always bring more money than comparable higher mileage (47K) vehicles with mods (new engine). Apples to oranges. History has proven that "Collector Editions" are a marketing gimmick more times than not.

You got a great reset financially with your particular situation. That is all that matters for you.

Yeah, like I said, I didn't ask for MSRP or even a buyback....I merely asked for 3-4 grand associated with the breakdown. The onus was on GM to decide what this situation/product was worth compensating. If they decided MSRP, so be it, i'll be the last one to complain .

I would agree if engine failure was a widespread problem but I don’t think it is.

Well I can't tell you why MSRP was offered for the buyback, maybe they got tired of you calling them and complaining but I can almost guarantee it wasn't because they wanted your collector car for their showroom floor when it's fixed

I believe a certain Mr. Miller has some advice here.

My office only called them once.... and I believe you skipped your ADHD medication today, but my post clearly stated that the car will shortly go on sale at a chevy dealership (which is how a buyback works, a host dealership must facilitate the surrender of the vehicle and prep it up and sell it off as well). So that alone should tell you it isn't for GM to keep.

It happens more than you may think. I went through an engine replacement/buyback on my 2019 2SS with 2000 miles on odometer. I also had electrical issues with the same vehicle. Keep in mind there is a low percentage of Camaro owners participating in this forum.

I know the appeal of a Corvette. My dad has a very nice C5 vert manual that my son has eyes for when my dad passes it on.
I have had multiple Camaros and still have a 2018 HW 6spd like your former "love" v8fanboy. I can highly recommend a CT5V BW as both a daily that is comfortable, snobby, seats 4 adults on long trip (over 14 hours) and a nasty roaring beast when you want to light your fire.

If you wanted one car to replace your SUV and the Camaro they absolutely do that. First picture is my car doing SUV things like bringing jack and tools so I could change out wife's truck tire.
Second picture is my car finding a friend in a hotel parking lot on that 14 hour road trip I mentioned

This is a great point. I bought my Camaro despite it being a GM product rather than because. And those with horror stories are more likely to post online than those who are fully satisfied.
