Just bought the NLR wing and now on the hunt for a spare trunk lid.
Curious, what’s the consensus on keeping or removing the 1le lid spoiler? I’m torn! |

Personally, I would leave it. I like the look of it, not sure if it would help with downforce at all.

Anything that creates high pressure under the wing is going to reduce the wing's effectiveness. A spoiler's entire reason for existing is to create high pressure on the decklid, so...

Also, anyone that has the NLR, can you tell me what's the width with endplates?
Thanks in advance! |

That does force me to find/buy a base trunk with no holes. However, it does allow for an easy swap to OE if needed. I am still under warranty for another year so that might help matters. |

I went with a replacement trunk lid that had no holes, then had it wrapped to match the hood. I kept the original stock 1LE trunk lid. It can be a challenge removing the end caps without marring the paint but can be done. They're mounted with double sided tape.
AJ Hartman is now making wings and splitter etc for the Camaro, but since its a CF its expensive AF.

Just wanted to add some context in here about trunk deflection. Unless you are bracing the shit out of your trunk lid, you are certainly getting deflection. A large wing on any angle beyond 5 degrees is likely putting out 100+lbs of downforce at 60+mph. Go stand behind your car and hang your bodyweight on the back of the wing and see what happens to your trunk. Most serious cars will have a swan mount bolted to the frame. Autocross cars have much lower speeds usually and can get away with a lid mount, but for track work hitting 100+ no way.

May I ask what AOA you running and if you have a gurney flap? What have you done up front to counter any lift? Love to hear your take since I know you track a lot. Oh and what speeds you hit at COTA. All okay with the trunk? Quote:

Also, I found it quite interesting carguy55 has no spoiler while his buddy kept his. I’m of the mindset eliminating the spoiler for cleaner air underneath the NLR wing is the correct route. That’s what they did on the GT4.R and you know that was tested. That being said, I have 2 more opinions. 1) There are some rare cases where manufacturers have added a spoiler in addition to the wing. Many could argue on the reason including it was necessary due to a poor bumper/rear floor design. Regardless, it’s still interesting to see some have combined both a wing and spoiler. 2) Finding a rear trunk with no holes is hard! It may be easier with white or something that was produced over the entire G6 lifespan but my color, Shadow Grey Metallic, was only half from 2019 on. - I have found one blue trunk I could wrap like carguy55 or - I found another 1LE lid in the same color with the spoiler attached or - I found one RS lid in the same color with an aftermarket 3 stanchion wing. I could plug the holes with caps, like ones for a license plate, but that might be unpleasant on the eyes and this car is not regulated to just track driving. I want it to look clean. - And lastly, I can keep waiting and hoping to find an intact lid in my color. I just don’t know how rare it is and what the cost would be. I’m wanting a lid for $200 ish. Buying one for $1k, well, that wouldn’t make sense to me. Long story! Sorry |

AJ's Camaro wing install video talks about using larger wings on trunk lids would require bracing or chassis mounts due to increase downforce. He also shows how you can brace the trunk lid for trunk lid mounted wings.
As far as the Nine lives basic trunk mount wing deflection its not an issue and I have have adjusted the bump stops. It does still compress a little under load so I have added a rubber strip to the bottom trunk edge where it can hit the bumber. I've used the wing up to 140 at COTA with 5* AOA with the 1/2 inch gurney flap. Slower tracks up to 10* AOA. In front I currently have the APR 2nd gen splitter (not the best) plus canards. I'll be upgrading to a better splitter in 2025 now that there are more choices. Nine lives has one they're testing, AJ's makes one and some others. I may also try making one. My COTA wing video before I adjusted the bump stops etc: AJ's wing install video:

That’s very useful info. None of my tracks are as fast as COTA so I’m sure I’ll be okay. Since I wont have a front splitter and only canards, I may start with 0/5 AOA on fast/slow tracks and adjust from there. The more I see your car, the more I think my route will be just buy any color trunk and wrap it the same as the hood. Might even wrap the roof to make it black all across the top. Ps, where did you source the black hardware? |

The black hardware for mounting the wing to the trunk I got locally, its not very good as far as rust resistant. I need to find something better.
A picture of my car next to a buddies car with the swan neck version of the wing and black roof. 2 ABM SS 1LEs together, very rare. Too bad he sold his.
