tortilla-flats - 2023 SGM 2SS Journal
Documenting what I'll be doing with my car.
Purchased used on 11/2/2024 with right at 20,000 miles. LT1/A10 Car was definitely owned by an enthusiast. Even with 20k miles, the engine compartment is spotless. Also, the car was set up with PPF and has MRR 017 wheels with a square setup, 20x10 with 285R35/20 all the way around. Michelin PS4Season tires are like new. Wouldn't be surprised if the previous owner is a member here. Looking to do some sporting events. Drag racing; probably join back up with the Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge (TMCC). Probably do a 1/2 mile and 1 mile event or two. Anyway, that's my intro. Last edited by tortilla-flats; 11-30-2024 at 12:30 AM. |

Looks great! I like the engine cover. The car looks lower than stock, too.
Any idea what rock guards/mud flaps do you have? |

Thanks. The flaps are what came with the car. Not factory?
I also noticed today that the side markers have been upgraded to a tinted version, too. |

Yeah, this car has some very tasteful mods. The rock guards look like ZL1 Addons mudflaps to me, the fender emblems are the heritage black Camaro badges (part number 84152028), and the side markers appear to be aftermarket dual strip LED replacements.

Couple questions, do you have Magnetic Ride Control?
It looks like you have 285/35's up front, any rubbing? What size are you running in the rear?

It has Mag ride. 285/35 all four corners. No rubbing that I have felt but have just this past week figured out the sizing on this and it not being factory. I've seen a couple of posts recommending 305s all around.
Is there a concern that this size will rub up front? I'll make a point of looking specifically for this tomorrow. On this subject, my first order of business is to get some drag radials in back. I really like the look and ride of the current setup, so I'm cautious about changing it up. Path of least resistance is just to get the same wheel in 20x11 for the rear and put 305s on the back. But I'd really like to go to 18s all around or 17s in the back with 18s up front. Trying to remember what I had on my C7. Ha! Found my old blog. https://blackjackc7.wordpress.com/20...hoo-new-tires/ The front tire size was 245/40R18 and the rear was 285/35R19 M/T. Last edited by tortilla-flats; 12-01-2024 at 12:29 AM. |

Going from the factory 275 run-flats out back to non-run flat 305s made a world of difference in traction for me, it is amazing the difference!

I didn't notice the side markers at the time of my previous post. They look like Morimoto's. (Coincidentally, I installed a set on my car yesterday.)
Maybe the 285/35/20 are why it looks lowered. Compared to a 1LE, your overall front tire diameter is +29mm and rear your rear tire diameter is +17mm. I would check how much clearance you currently have between the front strut/tire and rear body/tire to help get an idea on fitting 305's. 305's on a 10" wheel won't be ideal (less responsive when turning) but should work. 305/30 would be the way, if you choose to go that route. |

Checked clearance earlier. No rubbing that I can find. Also, if it wasn't clear earlier, I'm only looking to go 305s on the rear. No immediate need to change the fronts but eventually I'll probably go to a 245 tire on front.
