Bow tie emblem removal

Hi,
Dose anyone have any tips on how to remove the bow tie from the trunk lid on a ZL1? I’m replacing it with a black panther Camaro emblem.
Thanks. Anthony.

If it is just a stick on emblem, which I believe it is, fishing line works good to “cut” the two sides tape. Then a 3m rubber wheel to remove the rest of the residue, before you put the new one on.

To add to the above… be careful when lifting the emblem. The corners (just outside of the adhesive tape surface) are extremely sharp and can take a nibble out of the the cheapo Chevy paint.

Thanks, I’ll use the fishing line but I’ll also try to soften up the tape with goo remover as well.

I recommend Goo Gone as it's relatively gentle on the paint.

Also, I used a hair dryer (and not a heat gun) to heat the area when removing the old spoiler and rear emblems, it helps the fishing line cut through more easily and cleanly.

Doesn't anyone use WD40 for adhesive removal anymore? its the best in my opinion.
and you don't have worry about your paint

Yes, I recommend heat, it makes it easier to remove. But be very careful as others have said. I was using a plastic kitchen scraper, should have used something smaller/narrower. Don't let this happen to you.

That SS emblem is upside down, too.

Haha, now that I think of it, the pic itself might be upside down, hard to tell

(Those paint scratches make that less likely, though, probably everyone would start the fishing line cut from the top, and that's where I see the sawing/hacking marks in the photo.)

Don't use a rubber wheel on plastic painted parts (Front/rear bumpers). I have used them several times on my trunk with no issues.
