I ordered mine back in January 25th, it was built 4/05, picked it up 4/22. It's a matter of luck. People have gotten their cars sooner since order than I did. As soon as one month since order got accepted by GM. Just be cautious with a dealer that gives you a workbench order number. An order at 1100 is as useless as no order at all. Dealers can input 5000 Z06 orders that will sit at 1100. It's worthless unless GM gives them an allocation to tie that order to. |

I figured they’d be my dance partner for the vette as well, but we started out on a bad foot. I had to get the car out, take new pictures, and send them all my documents to in the end get to the same carmax number- despite them asking above MSRP for a ZLE on their used lot with 9,000 miles! Really, I get a carmax trade-in number when I’m paying you MSRP for a $145k vehicle?! On a track package car in better than new condition with 780miles? Maybe they are under new management, and even then, they didn’t seem to want to commit to using one of their Z06 allocations. I’m fine if the answer is no. I’ll move on…just tell me if you can get it built- not when. Now I’m back to square one. At some point, I’ll just get tired of it all and throw a blower on my 6.2L

By the way, Donald Trump was not president when GM committed to zero percent emissions by 2035. I would say the decisions started getting made as soon as we had president-elect Biden. So an incoming administration does appear to have some influence.

Dodge will probably have a higher chance of bringing back the Hemi than GM has to bring back the Camaro with a V8.
Good thing my Camaro is a forever car but GM really doesn't mind us going elsewhere if we want a V8 car that isn't a Corvette. I can see myself having Ford Mustang in my garage next to my Camaro. |

Mark Reuss announced GM plan to produce 100% Zero Emissions Vehicles in 2019 (Trump was president) Mary Barra announced GM’s commitment to Carbon Neutrality by 2040 in January 2021 (Biden was president) The difference between the two statements is that Carbon Neutral includes carbon reduction and/or offsets from the manufacturing processes. The intent is for the entire auto manufacturing and marketing business to be carbon neutral. In either event, rest assured that the decisions to pursue those strategies were announced lonnnngggbefore they were announced. So the decisions were made when Trump was president.

January 2021 is the earliest I can find articles speaking of the 2035 goal. As linked above, the move towards all electric started in the first year of the Trump first admin. 2018 came the announcement of layoffs, plant closures, product dropping, etc as either the plant was shuttered( Lordstown) or to be retooled for EV's( hamtramck).

I think I’m going to lay low a while… At the very least, maybe they’ll clip EPA’s wings enough the GG tax goes away… Z06 is pricey so every little bit helps. May find something close enough on a lot, which probably results in a nice discount. Last edited by cooldawg; 11-19-2024 at 04:15 PM. |

There is a 7th gen, it's built by Ford Motor Company lol. Def might go that route.
From GM, nope Corvette is the king and that will be the last V8 they make. Leadership has their vision.

GM went to EVs simply to get a taste of the shareholder value Tesla creates. They are almost equally profitable but Tesla is worth 20 plus times what GM is. Stockholder value. When you consider the development cycle of an all new car or truck, an ICE Camaro would launch about the time of the next election. That and an all new Camaro would need about $500,000,000 in capital (maybe less these days as I’m hearing GM is shutting down several of their materials and corrosion labs so they plan to test less). And if he Dems win then you would launch a new ICE Camaro just before the CAFE standards would go back up. GM can’t have a product plan that depends on wild swing of who is President. NOW what is in the press is Stellantis offering ICE and EV on the same platform. I just read yesterday that Mercedes is doing the same thing with their new small car platform that launches in about a year. So it’s more likely GM does something like this than an all new ICE Camaro. But he elephant in the room is you need the Cadillac CT4 and 5 to go along. Camaro alone can’t shoulder the development $ needed for that. But there are really only 3 things Trump can do and several would likely end up in court. Eliminate the $7,500 tax incentive (which you all know I’m in favor of), drop the future CAFE standards that is driving EVs for the OEMs, and end California and the other 12 states ability to set their own standards. Then there is he tariff situation on Chinese cars built in Mexico. Few on this site are prepared to deal with he onslaught of Chinese EVs that are likely coming. Call them golf carts or appliances all you want (check the new hoodie of the EV record on the ‘ring) but Americans will buy them just like they do smart phones, TVs etc that all come from overseas (and are all about o get 10 to 20% more expensive. So GM will need to competitive and profitable with a market full of Chines EVs.

I just delivered a presentation to a client’s Board of Directors… One of the fun facts that they were unaware of… The top 6 global automakers have announced investments of $271 B combined for EV development. And all 6 have made commitments to Carbon Neutrality by 2035, 2040, or 2050 depending on which automaker you’re talking about.
