Tuning - hptuners and/or others - what can be done?
I can find very little info. Most videos are of people looking for pure performance, though I've seen little snippets of other things that interest me, like the NPP open/close mapping, etc.
What really interests me is if some of the car's vices can be tuned around. Having to toggle through modes is annoying; but I'd at least make them all usable. The non-track mode 'backfire prevent?' that holds the gas down is annoying. I think there's some rev hang in there though they hid it pretty well. I would probably make the throttle mapping in general uniform between modes. Where can I see what can be done with tuning? Is everyone just using a HPTuner working with different tuning services? I really can't even find enough to ask good questions. (BTW - I'm guessing all this voids the warranty - or can stock programming be restored?) |

Anytime you write an "unauthorized" tune into the car, checksums are modified and GM will see that this happened no matter what you do afterwards, even if you restore the stock tune later. Some service departments care, others don't mind in terms of working on your car, but your official powertrain warranty with GM is gone if you tune any modules.
I have not seen a complete throttle mapping table or tables in HPT. People tweak the NPP open/close settings as you commented, modify pedal snappiness by throttle blade area tweaks, add or delete pops and crackles using spark tables (which may help with your desired "rev hang removal" as well), but I'd also be interested to see how to adjust the throttle curve directly in the tune. Throttle controllers do it externally via falsifying the input voltage signal, but it's a dirty chip tuning style trick I'm not a fan of, and requires extra hardware, too.

Voids warranty, can't help you with the other things.
But GM/Chevy can check the ECU for tune tampering so no way out of that one.
