Bone Stock

Its been a while since I have been on here as I have been following Brett Pray with Pray Performance on FB. Saw one post and need to see what your opinion is on a BONE STOCK ZL1 LT4. Has added a cam and port injection. Nice car- they consider this LT4 motor bone stock as the bottom end is bone stock. What is your opinion?

Cam is not “bone stock” lol… it has a stock bottom end, but that’s it. Just my 2 cents.

My car is listed as Bone stock, says so right there under my user name and avatar image...

Most of us know it's anything but however.... Consider the source and don't buy into the delusion... It aint worth it with all the keyboard commandos...

I had to laugh one time, there were comments on another couple of pages that my car would be run at the TX2K events... I commented it most assuredly would not be at TX2K.... I was told I had no clue what I was talking about and to "piss off" "shut up" and a bunch of other things I cant repeat here.... and I was asked how I would know anyway!!!!

Well "it's my car" it wasn't running at the moment, and I was in Brazil on an oil rig...

It's all akin to kids when I was growing up "oh it's got a full race cam, or a 3/4 race cam, or pop top pistons and a Blaupunkt stereo..."

My understanding bone stock is nothing internally changed. Complete bolt on is anything bolted on to the car without going internal to the engine. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Right? Stock is stock! Not sure what the confusion is or at what point in time the defiition of stock changed

Maybe I'll head over to Prays page and check it out because it sounds too stupid to be true

I dont know the car but guys are accusing him of a built motor. Brett states the car has a “bone stock LT4 long block top to bottom”. I just made my opinion on the post about not being a stock motor and got ripped for it. Brett and his followers can be something if you dont fall in line… damn social media.
Bottom line is that Brett tuned the ZL1 and turned up the timing and boost and added his cam and port injection to handle the fuel load. Good for the owner so he can claim whatever he wants and beat his chest… lol
Just remember… there is someone always faster than you and has deeper pockets.
I will stick with my 2SS and happily go down the road. Completely understand why Brett left this forum and went to FB. Great guy and I thank him for his service and he does great work but his followers can be something else!

Bone stock is all factory original parts or equivalent replacement parts. Anything else is just word games.

Stock internals only is typical called SBE (stock bottom end) as noted above.

Yeah I saw it. I can see how the "dead stock" kinda jumps out but Brett did say "This car has a dead stock LT4 long block with my STG2 boost cam and an 8 rib Maggi" I also read the comments and it didn't sound like they tried to call it stock. I read it as everything is stock besides what was stated.

Just curious, why do you think he left the forum?

Adding a cam qualifies as bolt on modification.

Port injection is related to fueling concerns over the cam. Again Bolt on.

By the way, my car is bone stock too.

The block, heads and pistons are bone stock, thus I'm stock from top to bottom.

Stock long block is engine builder lingo and indeed means stock crankshaft, stock rods, stock pistons, stock heads and valves.

Typically it excludes the cam, lifters, and springs since they are usually talking about the rotating assembly(short block) and stock head castings(unported).

So while you're not wrong, you were probably trashed because you didn't realize this nuance. Also, another reason I don't participate in social media. It's useless drama and mental stress. Literally, you're worried about a bunch of people on Facebook and its so in your head you posted on here about it.

I think this world would be a better place without social media all together. It's caused so many people to lack communication skills and how to actually interact with other human beings.

Why did Brett leave this forum? That can be a whole new thread as everyone has there opinion on that! Personally, FB followers are easy to get so he caters to a different crowd over there. The camaro family here are much more knowledgeable than his typical FB follower. The few posts I read back in the day here when he was here, some guys here debated some of his stuff/findings/post and I guess he didnt want that friction so he bolted… that is my opinion only. Only Brett can tell you his reason. Brett/ Pray Performance finished his new shop and looks great so his business is growing! good for him. Hate to see him leave here and going social media but understand he can reach a larger crowd I guess for his business.
