I would love to order a ZLE in yellow! And better yet with no GG tax?

I know, I know I'm probably dreaming, but what if the new administration claws back the retool grant to convert Grand River to EV? Or they incentivize ICE knowing it likely translates to more jobs/ reliance on American supply chain?

Or maybe some GM folks can chime in on whether the retool is already too far along?

I'm thinking about trading my 1SS1LE for Z06 in competition yellow... But damn, would very much prefer a ZLE and about another $60K in my pocket! So you're saying there's a chance?

GM not building another ICE Camaro is more of a GM decision versus persuasion from the admin. If GM cared about the Camaro they would have kept developing the 7th gen and waited until 2026 to release it along with their release of the Gen VI small block which WILL pass the emissions requirements coming in 2026.

Remember there are other countries that GM sells cars in and they are the ones with the more strict requirements so it does not matter who is in charge here administration wise.

Sure there's a chance and I maintain hope it happens within the next few years. But if I were you I wouldn't be thinking about a future purchase based on what gm has given us for info.

They've basically said the Camaro name will be used again. This might be an EV SUV/CUV, could be a four door car. At this point we'll be very lucky to see a two door car powered by an ICE. I hope they offer a manual in the Corvette again one day.

You've got a SS/1LE, you're doing pretty good and we may never see a small block V8 in a Camaro again. This could be the car you regret selling.

Camaro wasn't a money maker for Chevy any more.

You have the complete opposite like the Challenger and Charger for Dodge.

Ill double down and say you'll see a complete come back from SRT and Jeep gets the 6.2 again before you even hear of a ICE Camaro coming to light.

Chevy also has the Corvette to fill the niche

I have no idea why people think Trump 2.0 will cause this resurgence in ICE vehicles.

GM’s EV movement started under Trump 1.0.

If GM changes course which they are, it’s in response to consumers. Not who is president. Given who is president can change every 4 years, it would be incredibly silly to base investments based on which party is running the government given it takes longer for those investments to bear fruit than a presidents term.

You could also consider a yellow Blackwing Caddy still built at the Lansing plant. They might get a reprieve given the coming political changes.

I agree that the administration certainly wouldn’t be the primary factor, but the outgoing one is certainly doing everything in their power to influence the market. I wish they would just let the consumer/ producers decide and quit with the subsidies, BS luxury taxes (what GG truly is), etc.

It’s all my wife’s fault anyway. I had a yellow Z bought at a great price, but she wanted to pump the brakes and look at challenger. I enjoyed the cat. It was fast but just too darned big.

I didn’t get all the fanfare with Stingray, but the Z06 in competition yellow has me excited… That said the M6 SS1LE is a very enjoyable car to drive. Agree with popular opinion here-.It’s an easy car to decide to keep- my problem is space.

This is what was true when GM said they were going 100% Zero Emissions Vehicles in passenger vehicles by 2035:

• Donald Trump was President
• The United States was not supportive of the Paris Accord
• GM had already utilized all of their allotment of EV credit incentives under the Obama incentive plan.
• The Inflation Reduction Act, including EV Incentives was not even a pipe dream.
• GM as well as several other automakers had pledged to achieve Carbon Neutrality. In GM’s case, it was by 2040.

Since then, the Biden Administration has:

• Returned the US to the Paris Accord
• Passed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that funds the building of EV charging stations (among many other infrastructure improvements like bridges, roads, and strengthening the grid)
• Passed the Inflation Reduction Act that includes $7,500 incentives for EVs with significant North American content. Although the incentives are the only thing we tend to talk about in this thread, if the IRA was a dog, the EV incentive piece of it is the fluffy tail. A lot more going on there.
• GM has dropped two EVs (Bolt, Bolt EUV) and added seven EVs and has four more launching over the next several months

So if Trump 2.0 is able to selectively remove the EV incentives, GM is still in a better position than they were in when they first stated their intent to go all zero emissions. They have accumulated some learnings along the way, such as some use cases are better served by PHEV (or REEV) than BEV. And they’ve had some hiccups in ramping up EV production (Blazer, Lyriq) and the threat of Cybertruck to GM’s ICE truck portfolio was way overblown.

Until and unless GM comes forward and declares that they are walking away from their Carbon Neutrality commitment, do not expect them to walk away from their commitment to EVs. The rollout will take longer than their original statements. And they may have REEV or PHEV in some classes of vehicles, but the intent to shift primarily to zero emissions vehicles is still there.

As a person with a C8Z( red mist granted), the Z06 is fantastic.

Just keep in mind the LT6 is a different beast with different characteristics. It's not gutless down low, but it doesn't have the grunt the LT1/LT2 has. Gotta rev it out, but it sounds glorious as you do push it. I wanted something different than my 2017 Camaro SS in terms of the experience from the engine, and the LT6 delivers.

EXTREMELY UNLIKELY that we'll see another ICE Camaro. EV stands the best chance and hybrid not quite as good a chance as EV. The GM EV platform is the springboard for any future iteration of this vehicle and think in terms of a funky and frumpy 4 door, not two door.
