Automatic cars with flex fuel, headers, lt2 manifold, 95mm tb, rotofab generally make around 470whp on E85. They baseline around 390whp. That is roughly +80whp gain from all those mods which is still pretty good.

I think 15-25whp would be a fair account of E85.

my car made 22 whp more on ethanol. its not about the gain in number on a sheet of paper. after driving them back to back i refused to use 93 octane unless the car was going up for the winter. ethanol drives/feels/runs so much better.

Ethanol does not burn as efficient when cold. Fuel stations drop the E content back into the 60% range during the cold season, so vehicles start easier and run better until up to temp.

My CAI, Headers+Full Exhaust, E85 Tune SS put down 480 at the first dyno and 500 at another dyno after retuning. I'm currently putting down somewhere ~ 450 - 460WHP on 93 octane. I may have a freak car or a really good tuner but it seems that E85 really wakes these cars up. Although I will agree E85 alone will not be enough to get you there. It still seems like a pretty big jump compared to the investment. Last edited by Need4Camaro; 12-11-2024 at 03:41 PM. |

I think Rotofab claims up to 15whp from stock with their intake and I haven't seen exhaust manufacturers advertise power gain claims much but on an otherwise stock LT1 I think long tubes could be worth 15-30whp. Everything after the headers is purely noise. There's nothing to be gained in pipes or mufflers over the factory setup really, if you're not pumping more air into them beyond their capacity. And the only way you're going to pump more timing into the tune is by adding octane and/or cooling the combustion event. Both, E85 does very well. Beyond that, whatever numbers show up on the dyno screen are what that dyno equipment recorded. One can only speculate as to the dyno equipment calibration and software settings. Anything other than a 1:1 gear ratio could affect results as well I suppose. We can debate whether someone's car "actually" makes a number, but it usually just results in hurt feelings. If you baseline a car and do the mods & tune on the same dyno, preferably same day, there's almost no arguing with the results. But these cars have been out for years, baseline averages and average gains from various parts and combos documented for years. Results outside of these norms always get a raised eyebrow. While the power badge is fun, I think it's seconds we really want; - Will it make the car faster or stronger? (Because supporting mods are important, too.) - Does the $ per smile ratio fit the budget? (Because it's hard to spend $1500+ on mufflers that make the car louder but not faster.)
